My favourite song from the film, right from the first time I saw it in the cinema back in 1982. And all these years later, I only have to hear those opening bars and I'm hooked. It's just a shame that it was only included as backing music, rather than a big featured song like the others.

It's astonishing the way Alan Parker made a piece of art from cotidianity, common human beings, without stars, and represented all of us, our hopes, our expectancies, our pains...And Paul McCrane has always been and will always be loved for his sensibility.

One of my favorite moments in the film FAME. Always like Paul Mccrane's voice. His performance in the film was terrific as well. Hope to see more of him. FAME, what a great movie. I pull it out of my video library from time to time to re-experience it. Great fun.

I also noticed that not one had a Schoolbag. Now when I go to work I see folks as well as Students with Knapsacks. They were so happy to be in, not realizing that the next four years would shape and change them in ways that even they wouldn't have imagined.

This is a great song, one of my all time favs! I believe that the great bassist Marcus Miller played on this song. He was 17 years old then.

Os adolescentes de hoje, realmente não tem noção nenhuma de como os anos 80 e 90, foram marcantes para sempre. Essa canção tem uma melodia e um sentido exato dessa época inesquecível! Saudades!

Great movie, but DAMN it's so dated now! Never-the-less, it's the movie that inspired me to move to New York when I was 17 years old (still here nearly 30 years later).

You had it right when you said it s so dated now, but this was time of us old schoolers. It was time when ( in my opinion) life was less complicated, people knew how to talk to each other ( as opposed to looking down clicking), you can say what’s on your mind without getting offended or “ cancel” when I look back at those times, I get emotional cause “those were the days “…of good times and moments and peaceful decades that we won’t see again.

Wow, looking at that scene in the rubble of the South Bronx, how did we ever accept that as normal back then??? But we did, that part of the city was "like that" and we just shrugged and carried on. Great post, by the way, love the song and how you did the movie. But it makes me realize how much things have changed from then, it's a whole different city now.

@UnderThisSmile Yes, I called it a "glossy" because that's what it was called when I was in theatre; however, I always had mine done by professional photographers. That was a while ago; perhaps before your time.

@UnderThisSmile Rats - I was going to attach my "head shot" (now that I'm a belly dancer you could decide for yourself if it's a head shot) but I can't seem to post links in comments. Oh, well, I guess you're spared. I'm also hearing "photo resume"? I'm going with "e-portfolio."(Is it still called "show business" BTW?) :-D

Where's the song sung by Paul McCrane ? I can't find it anymore . "Dogs in the yard " is one of my favourite songs . Please put it back on KZbin , if I know how to download the song, I would have done it a long time ago. Really appreciate it.
