I think I liked the Hey Arnold Valentines episode because it finally resolved that Ruth subplot that was with the show since the beginning. And resolved it in a way that shook Arnold from his obsession with a girl that would never be his (and, as it turns out, was not that great a catch anyway). So that our dear Football Head could finally move on...and maybe look for romance in his own age-group/supporting cast.

To me, what I liked in particular with that special was the heart of it along with how great it is written. Seriously, I have seen other shows tackle Valentines Day but often, I feel like they fail at it because it's either soulless or just cringey as all fuck. Hey Arnold's Special on the other hand was genuine in how much the characters have actual chemistry.

The one that springs to my mind is the DuckTales Valentine's special, in which Scrooge finds Cupid's arrows in a sunken temple, and an angry Aphrodite shows up to take them back (oddly, Cupid never appears), only to get stuck with an arrow herself and fall in love with Scrooge.

That Johnny Bravo special makes me wish that Johnny and Heather would have gotten a second date. Seriously. The guy met his perfect match. It's still one of my favorite episodes of Johnny Bravo because of how fun it was.

I always felt the Spongebob Valentines episode was a bit forgotten, seeing how I've only seen it on DVD. I remember watching the Johny Bravo and Peanuts ones as a kid. A lot of the other ones seem somewhat familiar, like the Ed, Edd and Eddie, Hey Arnold and the Invader Zim, but I don't know if I actually watched them or not.

To me, the thing that Valentines Day specials usually tend to fail at (especially ones made for a younger audience.) is the heart and soul of it. Seriously, often it's either underwhelming or just complete cringe that really makes no sense in general. But ya know, there are some gems out there. You just have to look hard for them.

The ending of the Johnny Bravo Valentine's Day special always left my inner hopeless romantic feeling depressed. **SPOILERS!** I was the type of fan who hoped that he would eventually meet a girl that genuinely liked him, and didn't want to beat him to a pulp upon first meeting him. And in this episode, that's exactly what happened. He had finally found the woman of his dreams, the ONE, and what happens? Status Quo marches on, and he's FORCED TO FORGET ABOUT HER. Just... NO. 😫 And even worse? THIS WAS THE SERIES FINALE. Instead of feeling satisfied, it just left me with a broken heart and a bitter taste in my mouth. You just couldn't let him be happy, could you, Cartoon Network?! 😡

I love the Pink Panther and Hey Arnold specials. ^^ Also as a side note, when they did give Pink a voice I think it was completly wrong for him, because in my local dub, instead of this kinda high wiseguy voice, they gave him a much deeper, smoother voice, a bit like Pepe Le Pew without the accent.

I really wish there was some legal way to purchase the Cartoon Network Valentine's specials. Even if you don't mind importing from another country's iTunes (though that's technically illegal...), there are still several standalone episodes of Cartoon Network shows not available to purchase like these and the lone Season 6 Ed, Edd n Eddy episode, as they weren't included in the show volumes or given a special holiday compilation (the latter of which being why Underfist can be purchased on the UK iTunes, as it's Halloween-related and thus included in a Halloween compilation). But yeah, good job.

YAY! So happy though part of me kind of wishes I saved this until Valentine's Day. Oh well. Valentine's Day is a holiday I feel can't be put into one category. Unless a movie or special is willing to go into every facet of romantic couplings like straight, gay, trans, robot, alien, etc then I will be waiting a while. Maybe it will happen but yeah unlike other holidays Valentine's is rooted depending on what type of couple is being formed. I hope that wasn't too political.
