Love that Nilus the Sandman gets the #1 spot on this list, because the actor who played the titular Sandman is none other than Long John Baldry, the same actor who voiced Dr. Robotnik from Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. I bet this, and his appearances in Captain N, is what made DiC decide “yes, this man is our Dr. Eggman!”

For true Christian believers, every day is Christmas- so Merry Christmas, y'all! Vincent Price and Jonathan Winters signed on to do the Little Troll Prince because of their Christian faith and their desire to "keep Christ in Christmas." That's so amazing and brave of them to stand up for their beliefs in a world like the one in which we find ourselves today.

There was a 2000 animated version (the one with Kate Winslet voicing Belle--it was actually pretty good) where it's hinted that Ebenezer and Belle might just reconcile. And I really like The Flintstones Christmas Carol--I can do without the framing story, but the actual Christmas Carol adaptation does a good job of adapting Dickens' dialogue just enough that it's comprehensible to younger viewers without losing its actual meaning. Not unlike the first adaptation I ever read--one of the "Great Illustrated Classics" adaptations for children that was given away during a McDonald's cross-promotion. (They were sponsoring PBS' "Once Upon A Classic" at the time.)

I was wondering if you would finally mention "The Little Troll Prince" in one of your forgotten Christmas specials. I never really watched too many Christmas specials as a child, but this one I clearly recall seeing once on tv--most likely on TNT since Cartoon Network wasn't around until I was in 2nd grade. The amusing part about this is that I actually didn't remember the Christianity tones in this one--and I happen to be Jewish. I actually asked about this one years later on a cartoon forum because even though I only saw it once, it left quite an imprint on my mind.

One thing I *never* got was the whole 'you're greedy for writing a long wish list' thing so many specials spout. How is that greedy on its own? It's a *wish* list, not a demand. The only way you're greedy is if you expect/demand that you get everything/most of what's on it. I'm grown now and I still write a long list but I never, ever expected to get everything. To this day, it helps friends who don't have much money find me something they know I'd like on a budget they can afford (as do I with theirs). How is that bad?

I remember one year, must have been 88, 89 or 90, Nickelodeon had a Thanksgiving special or short on where ants were fighting some other insect over the food of a Thanksgiving dinner. I remember being enraptured by it but I've never seen it again. I wonder what it was.

I think that #1 isn't shown anymore probably due to copyright infringement.. if you look closely at the style and the movement of the toymaster, it's obviously traced over Djinni from Aladdin.

I just rewatched The Little Troll Prince this year, after 30+ years. If anyone is confused by the Catholic and Lutheran faiths, this actually shows the outline of them. They believe in redemption if you want to take the route and change. However, as it for being anti-semitic, I don't believe that it is because of Jews respect those who are Catholic and others. The tolls have no respect for anyone, except the King later on where he is showing remorse and the guilt of sending his son away. Also, Jewish people believe in God and they accept the belief that Jesus existed, but didn't believe that He was the son of God or the Messiah. The trolls symbolize fear; the fear of conversion and the fear of acceptance. This is common amongst those who are afraid of change and that God will reject them if they do something wrong. To conclude, we are all sinners, but we have the chance to repent and learn from them.

You know, these are wonderful and all, but, I have this sneaking, cynical suspicion that an angry mobster, while probably unlikely to kill the guy in church, would have little problem rubbing out someone who stole from him, WHATEVER he did with the money at a later opportunity.

Does anyone know about this obscure bizarre Christmas film? I saw a little bit of it when I was a kid, it was a modern day adaption of A Christmas Carol. BUT, it takes a sudden left turn when one of the ghosts, sick of doing the job hijacks the time travel whatever to go back in time and fix his own life forcing the Scrooge and other Ghost to stop him. I swear this was a real thing but I can't find anything about it. Does anybody know what it was called?
