One thing about those Scooby Clones (including Scooby itself), from both Hanna-Barbara and Ruby-Spears, is that more often than not the crook in the mask is some unassuming secondary character who's introduced early in the episode, then forgotten until the unmasking. Much like that Crystal Skull guy (aka mustache professor).

Even though Joe and Ken created the franchise of Scooby Doo, Joe Barbera also was a key member of creating the series he worked on the artwork pieces like the presentation boards and also he along with Hanna produced and directed every episode of the original series. Barbera also wrote the story of an episode of Whats New Scooby Doo

here's a little more enlightment:The Basic personalities and Physical templates for Scooby Doo are the old tv sitcom "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis" and the Basic Model for Shaggy is Bob"Gillian" Denver's Maynard G Krebs. Oh, for Goldie Gold and i could see this done as a Zucker/Waynans Parody Reboot with Amy Shumer and Jason Sudekis as the leads

Nice ending. Didn't see it coming. The only way the Hobo Joe thing could possibly not be horrible is if Joe lives on the street by choice...like he could get an apartment anytime he wants because he's on the take from Goldie. You know, keeps his ear to the streets for her. But that's poor justification for why he has to LIVE on the streets. Also, I'm pretty sure Ayn Rand would bemoan the fact that the state controls waste disposal services, a trade Joe could informally cover and have a job.

YAY. A new episode. You did your research with this episode. Those cartoons at the beginning like Rickety Rocket and Goober and the ghost chasers I had no idea they existed. Anyway I think I saw an episode of this show on Boomerang once. It was a filler gap. But yeah some 80s shows were all about saying "Look we're rich and you're not, have fun watching us live the lives you wish you had." Dynasty, Dallas, Lifestyles of the rich and famous, etc. Born in '89 so escaped that pain! Good work, sir.

Wow, I remember Goldie Gold fairly well and I do know of Ruby Spears. But, I had no idea of the history of the studio and always assumed this and the other shows mentioned were Hanna Barbara and such. I always thought RS was only responsible for Mr T. and the Chipmunks relaunch. Awesome history lesson there. :)

Wow! The closest thing I've seen too this show is a slight mention from an episode of Plastic-man that my parents taped for me in the 80's. It was some kind of power hour for pre-Foxkids with Plastic-man, Mightyman & Yuk, Rickty Rocket and Goldie. Never saw any of the other shows just Plas vs. Dr. Dinosaur.

It's true! I saw it on a Flintstones Comedy Show VHS I got from a car boot sale as a kid. There was this on segment were this DJ got kidnapped by this music phantom and so Pebbles, Bam-Bam and Dino decided to investigate it. They manage to defeat music phantom using musical instruments that produced energy blasts that...I've lost you, haven't I? But seriously, I couldn't make this up if I tried.

I read a theory that this show was actually a kid version of the series "Hart to Hart" about a married couple that solves mysteries. Except in that show, the husband was the millionaire and the wife was a writer. Makes you wonder when you consider both shows aired on ABC. You referenced a whole lot of shows I grew up watching.
