Families of fallen Ariz. firefighter denied payments

In Arizona, some families of the hotshot firefighters killed in a massive wildfire believe they are being wrongly denied benefits. Carter Evans reports.

Those men paid the ultimate sacrifice and at the very least their families should be supported. If Prescott aint doing it then the government should. Time to stop shitting on heroes weather they be granite men , vets or first responders do the right thing.

The city is payed $50 by federal government. The city only pays firefighters $15 an hour. That means city is making $35 an hour profit. “Greed is good” .....Gordon Gekko (Wall Street, 1987)

A google search turned up that 3 widows filed a lawsuit claiming their husbands were full time. In the end they won and were given full benefits.

When you deploy on a wildlife fire you're paid for all 24hrs for x amount of days you work so even though he was getting paid 15hr it racks up if he were to be deployed for 2 weeks at a time which is the typical amount one works when he or she is deployed

its like any other pension system, you have to pay into it and do your time before benefits kick in. You can't work day 1 in a union, die on day 2 and get full benefits. Sounds like the Federal government did their part but these guys union doesn't seem to have its act together.
