Our lives seem to always be in the same scenarios and spaces at the moment. I’m glad you shared your real and mature perspectives. I don’t think it’s selfish at all that you didn’t go home for Christmas. I’ve been dealing with some hard stuff with both my parents individually and I’m literally the only light and reaffirmation that they don’t have to live this life in a lie and disappointments. I’m able to passionately express peace and how to deal with disappointments because of Lysa Terkhearst book, it’s not supposed to be this way and MAN! It’s helped me process more things that long attending counseling sessions have done. It will all work out, when those people are being verbally abusive; pray for them that’s when Jesus is most pleased when you’re dealing with angst. Thank you again for sharing part of your brain, you’re an example to the world. 💙

You don't owe anyone anything. Someone bringing you into the world and raising you doesn't give them ownership to you. It's a hard lesson to learn, and I'm glad that you've been able to throw those boundaries up - no one deserves to go through that. It was nice to hear these words. Thank you.

Theres alot of social propaganda about what Thanksgiving and family should look like and feel like . But its not that way for many families . Less central family members can snipe at others verbally , and its worse if parents are hostile . Because its supposed to be a supportive get togeather , it can feel awful if it starts to get ugly . I hope things improve for you next year , with your situation .

yeah Family can be cruel especially when it comes to what your line of Work is...and how it seem to them that it's putting them in the back seat.

You go, girl. You are way ahead of the game. It took me 50 years to learn how to set boundaries with my family. We really need to be honest with ourselves as to who and what is making us uncomfortable and unhappy. I'm not going to say I never feel guilt, or in some cases which I would have just gone along with the program; I do. However, I can honestly say my life is immeasurably better without the toxicity. God bless you. Keep strong ❤️🙏
