Bryant and Amy purchased a property for a weekend getaway for their young family, but they had no idea the treasure trove that was hidden on the land. They found a huge cave and became inspired to make something out of it. So they built a luxury, modern cave home inside! It's nearly 1500 square feet and includes two bedrooms and two bathrooms. In this video, they take you on a tour and explain the challenges they faced when building a cave home. They now rent the cave house out to guests!

I personally would love to see more on the building and engineering of the house. This was allot more why I chose color and my cabinets and not enough about the engineering and what we had to do to get past these problems and what engineering features we added to it to make it a more livable structure. Like the dehumidifiers and the drainage and just basic wiring and water stuff also.

- 2:38 you're a blessing for adopting another kid. 🙏🏽 I personally gave my son up for adoption, it was the hardest thing I ever did, however the family allows me to fly to see him anytime I want, they were unable to have children and flew all the way to me. I almost changed my mind and realized, this family is a blessing, they even signed if i wanted him back I could at any time and also that they will fly me to see him anytime, and want current photos of me and cards so that he knows his biological mother as well. I'm so happy to see this family adopt as well.

I have a cave man in our family. My sister married a guy who lived in a cave. Actually it was an old salt mine or something, and they had a driveway that went right into the cave. It housed a whole bunch of people. It was sort of like a commune I guess. They had a huge kitchen and pretend windows that would light up slowly in the morning and go black at night, so it felt like day and night in the cave. They also had their own school right in the cave. It was quite self sufficient and some people did not leave for weeks at a time. My sister was one of the teachers there. I've always wanted to live in an underground home. Someday when my ship comes in...

People burn patchouli because they say it has a good dirt smell so I don't know why they would have a problem with living in a place that smelled like Earth. People are overly sensitive to natural things because they're so used to smelling artificial things.
@joanies6778
@joanies6778 Жыл бұрын
It's probably a concern over a musty smell that can come from dampness. I have been extremely ill from mold in the past, and with sensitive lungs, it would be a concern. However, with 4 dehumidifiers, there should be no problem. I love patchouli, but I would not associate it with a cave smell.

That place where the wall is damp and water is coming in is perfect for Moss!!! The 30+ Moss species all have a unique style and texture and it is easy to precisely grow it where you want it. You can make an awesome design on that wall. Also, this is the benefits of moss: Moss has possibly the best air cleaning and oxygenating capabilities of any plant, so is one of nature's best air filters, helping to naturally clean the air we breathe. Moss has the natural ability to absorb and metabolise fine dust, converting particles into natural and harmless biomass. If you decide to go with the Moss idea than please upload a video or send pictures!!! Thanks 🙏

Does moss erode rocks?
@XsxLife
@XsxLife Жыл бұрын
@@skle2300 Although they do not have real roots, they affect the surfaces on which they grow: the release of various organic acids dissolves underlying rock minerals. This process of dissolution and chemical transformation of rock minerals is called chemical weathering. If a one inch by one inch rock had moss on it, it would take thousands of years to dissolve.
@Aethelvlad
@Aethelvlad Жыл бұрын
@@XsxLife Moss also holds moisture, and creates a breeding ground for mold if no natural cleaners are present (like folsomia candida). Your options with an indoor moss wall are as follows: use fake/dead/preserved moss, introduce bugs into your living space to keep the moss clean, or simply allow mold to take over your interior. My recommendation is to keep the moss outdoors, my second choice would be to use preserved moss. You do not want a living moss wall, moss is not self cleaning as you suggested. At most you could keep a fan circulating on the moss wall and spray it daily/weekly with diluted hydrogen peroxide, but I still wouldn't risk it personally.

That's how these things go, after all. I merely appreciate the results; they look great and will serve the space for a long time to come vs. a total waste into nothing. Cynicism is easy, but lazy...hope you find a way to explore what you actually like via your own online viewing, and enjoy/be inspired by/learn from what you admire and/or helps you expand your universe...vs trolling and critiquing based on minutiae...peace...

You bring up a good point. It would make sense but of course there would be a huge labor investment. I think a lot would depend on the site. Stunning. Stunning. Love all the various nooks and crannies within the walls of the cave that they were able to keep intact. Such a beautiful build.

2:10 Good point that you need a geologist to make sure that the cave is structurally sound! And in so a unique situation a structural engineer should be involved.

Really beautiful home, even if it wasn't in a cave. Please put a safety rail on the top murphy bed though. I know of a 10yo who fractured her skull falling out of a top bunk while sleeping, and even though her Dad was a DR and realised immediately she need an ambulance before many symptoms were showing, she sadly passed away.

That channel for sure receive money for the exposure. As this is a classic Airbnb style model. "Starting 600 USD/night", based on their own home page! It's not a home. It's a business model, where they invested money into the design to attract more people. It's fine. It's just weird how they pose as a family, instead of investors.

That's what I'm thinking. These two have to have MAJOR cash flow in order to build multiple homes especially THIS ONE. Who spends this type of money, resources, & energy on a home like this one to not actually live in it but a few days every month or so? To me it screams they have too much money & don't know what to do with all of it imo.

It's obvious that power lines are very close to their cave, couple of times you could see regular houses nearby . They are not far from sewer lines also . They are not 50 miles 🤪 from the nearest town 🤣😅🤣. THIS PLACE IS UNBELIEVABLE, GORGEOUS. PERIOD 🌑

What a fabulous cave home, such creative ideas and planning to keep the cave structure and add to its natural beauty while buiding a gorgeous home within it. It is definitely the nicest cave home I've seen! The overnight rental price reflects its luxury accomodations, but how cool it would be to rent and split the cost with a few friends or family members for a quick get a way!

Wow, they have four dehumidifiers and each of them is capable of extracting 7-8 gallons of water/day from the ambient environment! I wonder how much water they are collecting in their cave home within a given week. It's probably higher in the winter and spring given the increased levels precipiation.
