Family Cat Found Amid Paradise Fire Destruction

Here from start to finish is the story of Kermit, lost and found.
Out of an awful two weeks, this is the unalloyed good.
We also wanted to take this posting to thank everyone for their support and contributions. Turns out more than a little of these donations will go to Kermit's recovery.

I would never leave without my pets. I dont care how bad it got. I would not be able to live with myself knowing I had left my family cats behind, to fend for themselves.

Unfortunately, animals react to scary situations. Sometimes they don't realize we are doing the best to save them and instead they run in the hopes to find safer ground. Cats especially can be hard to handle in these situations.

First of all you are no good to your pet if your dead. The fire came so fast some people literally only had seconds, or where not home to get their animals. Some even animals escaped their owners and took off. Some animals where free range, and others just to many. Humans barely even got out alive in some locations, and again you are no good to your pet dead. If you got a pet you can't find and the fire is literally at the back door you are not left with much of an option.

A thousand cats survived that fire on their own, some for months. Maybe a handful of humans ran to a creek after abandoning their cars on the road. The rest of last minute evacuees perished in their cars in a traffic jam. You are a fool to think animals are your children. Even pampered pets’ survival instincts will kick in. There’s always some sanctimonious commenter bragging they love animals more than anyone in the whole world by making ridiculous claims….like the fact that they would face a wall of fire so strong it creates it’s own weather system. Burning to death is so feared that most people would rather jump to their death to avoid it. Keep loving your animals. We need more people like you ALIVE to provide loving homes. 🐾
