Men wearing ties while eating dinner at home! Also, getting a typewriter in 1939 must have been like getting a new computer, lol

I love watching these old holiday movies. One thing I’ve noticed is that, for the most part, everyone’s trees were little.

Just wonderful....back before television and the console radio was the star of the living room. Requiring imagination, not thumb skills.

@Slim5819 I remember as a small child in the1950s the movie camera lights were as bright as an atomic bomb going off. It was like a bar with very bright lights......i think they even gave off a lot of heat as well

Actually, one of my cousins , not pictured here, was going to marry a McDonald (but we didn't know it yet, she was only five and he wasn't one of those McDonald's anyway. Thanks for your comment.

Nice to share your Christmas from '39, at that time i as six and living in South London. I would love to have had some record of those days.
@Slim581915 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for your good words. You were six and I was just two (I'm the one with the cloth on my forehead. My Dad wanted to protect my eyes from the high wattage photoflood lamp.) At your age you would remember this. You folks were already in WW II. We in the U.S. wouldn't get in for another couple of years.

Awesome! It is so cool to watch something from back in that time that is real and not scripted. I gives me a real glimpse as to what life was like then.
