As a Hispanic who lives in Phoenix AZ all my life I remember the SB-1070 bill at the time I was 11 and didn't really understand the political climate at the time but do remember the countless ILLEGAL immigration raids breaking and separating families I remember my parents being worried about my dad not returning from his landscaping job due to him possibly being stopped and deported to mexico and my mom constantly checking to see if she was carrying mine and my brothers ID just in case we got stopped so we would be safe even if it meant they would deported

Arizona SB 1070 was passed in 2010, it was not passed by the Bush admin, instead it was passed and enacted by the state of Arizona. This version of the bill never reached law as it was challenged by the federal government as unconstitutional. It would be modified and include very specific wording as well as provisions on immigration status, emphasis on lawful stops, etc. before it was eventually signed into law. prosecutors would not investigate complaints based on race, color or national origin
