These stereotypes come from somewhere, and in some situations are indeed funny. If you haven't seen it yet, Id recommend reacting to the movie "Blazing Saddles" directed by Mel Brooks. They could never make that movie today, but its still just as funny as it was in the '70s. Also, getting back to Family Guy, there are a few segments called "Black Jesus " that are good for a giggle as well🤭

14:59 As a white guy, I love anything grape and fried chicken is the shit. I do hate watermelon, but the rest of my family loves it, so I’m the odd man out. I think it’s all just great to most people, like any stereotype about foods. For white people, there’s mac and cheese (also a Canadian stereotype, ask any Canadian about “Kraft dinner,” and they even discuss it in a Barenaked Ladies song, “If I Had a Million Dollars.”), chicken noodle soup (when you’re sick), and tomato soup with a grilled cheese sandwich. Oh, and pizza. Just generically great foods.

I'm from Appalachia, and what's funny to me, is that all the stereotypical foods black people are supposed to like, have always been common staples in Appalachia. I never understood those stereotypes because all of them are the same foods we have always been consistently eating. Literally all the time. It never made sense. If people are what they eat, then I'm part watermelon, fried chicken, corn bread, pickled stuff, and all the other foods. That's one of the things that made me realize, at a young age, that we all have more in common that makes us alike, than we are different. In fact, I've never seen a single peice of evidence that proves we are different, in any way, as human beings on the inside, the outside is just a wrapper so we can Tell one another apart, and the good lord just loves variety.

They make fun of the absurdity of the stereotypes themselves, not the people the stereotype is about. That's why nobody (with an IQ above the ambient room temperature at least) gets offended. They just take the stereotype and extend it to ludicrous conclusions. ...Except the Irish Stereotypes, those are spot-on, lol. Note: I'm half Irish, so I can say that. And the Irish half of me formally invites all the non-Irish people to join in. We can take it. RE: Grape Soda - That's not so much a black thing, it's a low-income neighborhood thing. I remember as a kid in the 80s, you go to the corner store for a soda, and the name brands were all 25¢ a can. But you could get off-brand sodas in Grape, Orange and a knock-off version of Big Red for 10¢ a can. The thing was, until the mid 80s, there were remarkably few black people in the more affluent suburbs due to racial biases in mortgage lending. So black families couldn't build equity in their home to take advantage of the housing market and get ahead. Unless they were wealthy, most rented, so they'd pay the same in terms of living expenses, but never gained financially from that. That means you cut back on expenses elsewhere, like food budgets. It's the same with the "White Castle" joke, those are only operating in low-income neighborhoods. It's not that black people are predisposed to liking grape soda and tiny burgers, that just what was available in black neighborhoods. There's a racial component to the economic disparity that caused that association, but no explicit link.

Family Guy's stereotypical jokes often come from a place of Satire and Sarcasm (self-reflection trying to expose how stupid and ignorant stereotypes are) or are just made for the puns. As a old skool dutch man (frisian) i like making fun of others almost as much as i like poking fun at myself. To me its all fair game depending on intentions. And its about a give and take. Each races (group) has sterio types associated with them. The key is to ether eliminate all sterio types (and that seems impossible), or see them all as jokes and collectively laugh about them.(taking away the power of those who truly believe in them)

Agree about the voices - if someone is going to get ‘offended’ than they’ll be there long before who does the voice. Black stereotypes are from perceived life circumstances, not melatonin. Like Irish stereotypes - old - we all drink, fight, are stupid and work in construction / but we don’t. Like you, you and all the black dudes I’ve met stateside aren’t slinging in projects. Dublin projects have poverty culture - but with white folk. Dublin 80s drug culture, worth a look or reaction. ❤️👍🏽👍☘️

@Pegasus Vs The World if you didn’t watch the episode where Peter went up and spoke at the black man march you won’t get the context of why it was so funny. Quick rundown that episode Peter became a massive feminist, she went on stage and when he said “it’s your fault” for everything basically it was because they were all men. Obviously what made it funny was that they were all black so they would assume since it’s coming from a white guy he was being racist but there wasn’t racist intent behind it which made it even funnier
