I am a survivor of abusive parents. An Anglican priest told me, "Honor thy father and thy mother doesn't mean you have to hang out with them anymore now that you are an adult."

My daughter told me that I have to help her raise her kids so that she will help me when I am old. My retirement is hers as far as she is concerned.

I struggle with this as an adult daughter who is 8 years married and with 3 children. How it looks to respect and honor my mother, and what differences there are between doing this as a child and doing it as an adult no longer under her roof. It's difficult to know what is practical and what isn't.

God doesnt ask you if you think it is practical to honor your parents does he?

@@gigiis526 what?? I dont struggle with knowing whether or not it is practical to honor my parents. I struggle with exactly what practical honoring actually looks like as an adult daughter. Not sure you understood what I commented..
