As a mom of 8, we drive from Michigan to Florida every year for a family vacation. I spend the first day unpacking and then grocery shopping so i can cook for our family of 10 for the week. Our rental always supplies cookware, etc. Way cheaper than eating out. Next year I'd like to do a cruise though so I can actually relax 😂

I just got back from 3 weeks at the same beach and did not buy 1/2 that much for 15 people. Of course I took my own sheets and towels from my house I didn’t buy all new 😳 cleaning supplies ? All houses have cleaning supplies ( for quick clean ups ) and you pay a fee to have the house cleaned when you leave . If I had to go through all this I would go to an all inclusive or a cruise it would be cheaper and no work.

Not sure where you stayed that you paid a fee to have the house cleaned but we have never done that. The renter is expected to leave the house clean. A broom is provided but we bring our own supplies. And you had 15 people for 3 weeks and didn’t spend as much as Alicia did? How often did you go out to eat m?

We just came back from 2 weeks at the beach, Frisco NC. Myself, husband,adult kids, 3 grandchildren so 9 altogether. We brought some things but bought groceries for the house. Everyone did their own thing. But we had several family dinners together, I cooked mostly but I like cooking. I didn’t do breakfast, lunches were mostly sandwiches on the beach or hotdogs, salads at the beach house, things like that. You can’t eat out every meal, it’s too cumbersome

You’re looking at 14 people, 3 meals a day, for 7 days, 14x3x7=294 meals. Rounding up, she spent $1800. Divide $1800 by 294 you’re looking at $6.12 a meal. It is their vacation, let them enjoy their time. They know their family and making sure they do what works for them. Not everyone is the same. Also they are a big family, ordering out and eating out for so many people is expensive because it is multiple times a day. She is smart shopping and getting the stuff she knows kids will like . Ends up being a savings.

I know it's not easy being a mom, she does a lot for her family, which is amazing, that's why she deserves to relax on a vacation. Honestly, I thought that after so many years together, Josh would have planned at least a weekend getaway for her, either for mother's day or her birthday!! She deserves to be pampered, to relax and have a peaceful weekend. I don't know, I just wouldn't want her to burn out, she is the literal definition of super woman. ❤️❤️

I think it all-inclusive resort is a good idea, but it does all depend on what your family is comfortable with. My family has gone to those, but we’re a small family I think with a big family. It might be difficult because there are so many different options on what to do that. It might make it difficult for the little kids. Personal preference for each family. Best wishes for your trip! *if you want an all inclusive vacation. Beaches and Iberostar are the best options for large families ❤

As a mom of 8, this is actually very realistic. 20 hamburgers for 14 people is not a lot,.especially if anyone wants 2 and I personally always make enough for leftovers :)

Geeze, this does not look like a vacation esp for Alicia having to do all this shopping when she should be relaxing. I would order pizza a couple times during the week and have bologna sandwich day, make noodles one day and I would say kids we are not home so don't expect all the snacks and usual stuff we buy, lol. It would be less stressful to order take out than to have to do all the shopping she has to do but to each their own I suppose. Have a great vacation and do less working, lol.

When we go away in the caravan, i do the shopping at the place where we are staying , you might still be cooking and doing the things you do at home but its the change of scenery that makes it much better .

When I’ve been on holiday a few years ago now (mind you it was only me and my two daughters who are grown adults now, )I bought things for meals at the grocery store and then cooked each night, was way cheaper, didn’t have to bring linen or anything like else just our clothes etc and food, as the hotel was self contained.
