23:26 - having had one in our old caravan I think of the "bathroom" in order of priority as 1) wet clothing / awning / other drip drying area, 2) loo 3) occasional shower . no shower now in our T5 but still thinking the "wet storage" aspect through. if ever you have had food poisoning whilst travelling, any form of bathroom is a godsend ! the "mistake" is to give it the bathroom misnomer !

If you have room, for drinking water we buy a Highland Spring box of water, they do 5 litre and 10 litre ones, the box has a little tap on it, they are great!

We use a shower tent & a hozelock ( as in hozelock garden sprayer) pump up shower. 5ltr of water more than enough for her indoors & myself. Loving the van build. Well done 👍

Hot flannel wash standing in a bucket is better than getting out in the cold with the midges or losing the space.. Space is why we suffer parking

Have a think about the reading lights over the bed. We had the brushed aluminium type that swivel around in different directions, it caused us both grazes and bruises several times. I changed them for flush dimmable touch lights that are recessed into the over head lockers, no more annoying injuries. Haha I feel your pain banging your head on the little cubby in the centre of the T6 cab roof, your Cali will of had the little control panel rather than a useless cubby.

It's refreshing to see a van that is for a family and contains the mess that comes with them. My boys are 13 and 6 and I'm trying to have a mess free van but I think I need to just give in to it.

I think the way you're doing the van is brilliant. Using the van before finishing helps you to plan what units you need. Have you considered one of those tent showers you can put up if you're off grid. Great video, as always Keep safe Kev

Well I'm amazed by how professional and practical your van is. I had been unsubscribed somehow and missed the arrival of Lena, so I have some catching up to do. I think a connection for a shower at the back would be great, if only for rinsing off sandy feet. As you say you're using campsites mainly. Great vlog, thanks. Jo in France 🇫🇷

Have you not considered a USB rechargeable portable shower pump? We have one. Whilst not very powerful it certainly does the job. Just boil a kettle and pour into a bucket and top up with cold to the desired temperature and away you go. Use outside obviously and if you wanted to save water then fill a trug with the warm water, stand in it and drop the pump in it too so you recycle the water. All packs away into a smallish pouch and you can get collapsible buckets or use a trug that has a fuel purpose for storage.

Great idea; we have one and a shower tent, which is used mostly as a shed when out with the Cali

I found out last Yr that you should never ever reuse plastic bottles. You can get poisoned by it. Did it last Yr. We were having family picnic in clumber Park. Made them a drink of tea. And it tasted absolutely foul

We've got the same bamboo worktop from Evomotion and I've got a Alsken countertop from Ikea to use as a table as a match. It comes 3 different sizes so might suit what you need.

I actually think the most useful use for a shower in a van is somewhere to hang wet coats/clothing!

What a change from the early days of California Camping when you were in Glen Etive and at Arisaig (my fav beach in the UK) etc. The van looks superb, a lot of work no doubt but reaping the dividends of all that Labour. Al the best 🤟🤟👏👏

Those bunk beds look fantastic, can you share a link as they’d be brilliant for my grandson. The awning you have already looks great, I always end up taking our fiamma down at night as the slightest bit of wind makes it thwack loudly, Very annoying!

Great video, thank you. I was wondering whether you think an awning is a good thing on a big van. We've just ordered, but not received, a Rapido Dream Campervan XL, and have to decide if we want an awning or not (amongst many other salesman stated essential extras...). I also wondered where you got the huge blue mat that Harvey is playing on. I think that would be useful to prevent having lots of dust / mud traipsed into the van.

Love the van ❤ Regarding the shower, I wouldn't give up the space for the sake of a shower, far better to give yourself maximum flexibility and keep the space. If you're camping with a family using campsites, why bring your own shower when they have them onsite?! 😊
@ABusAndBeyond4 ай бұрын
Yeah I definitely agree there! We’re leaning towards the no-shower option.

Had a motorhome for 7 years with shower cubicle. Never used it, it could have been much smaller to just house the toilet.

Like the way you have used the space. Lots of thought gone into storage. Would a shower cause to much condensation?

From personal experience, shower cubicles are a waste of space. You won’t shower every day; if you did, you would need to keep filling your water tank.
