Dear friends I am a retired soldier. I can tell you one thing. Please dont see this issue with the unfortunate loss of life of a Agniveer. If we see our security issues with emotional way we cannot treat the security issue properly. We take our oath to lie down our life for the nation if situation warrants. Now the issue of Insurane premium or govt money. Leave it aside. Why because, we are insured because we are soldiers. The premium is a meagre amount deducted from our salary and the scheme is not available for the public but only for defence personal. Hence why to waste time calculating the amount paid by the govt. We are now inducting three fold manpower than what we were doing early. This is because we need more person at lower level. These boys are mainly used for security duties not for war. Please mind it, not for war. War strategy is required to be changed according to time. Now we need mass weapons to protect our country, not rifle carrying men for a direct fight. Agniveer scheme is like Apprentice scheme or training afforded to candidates to make them fit to take up jobs in any department and it is not regular job. No Govt department gives regular benefits to trainees until they are appointed on regular basis. Candidates who undertake to abide by these conditions only are selected as Agniveers . I think ,Payment of gratuity or compensation is not mandatory. If such things are made compulsory , no department will come forward to give training and it will be loss to people only and not to the Govt.
