I recent discover your channel and enjoyed your videos of Guyana. I was born and grow up in BATH SETTLEMENT - our house was on the public road between Pitt Street n School Street. My father call name is “Press Hat” but I don’t think anyone would know us there now. It been a long time and I don’t recognize BATH SETTLEMENT from this video. It has changed so much In over 30 years. Watching this video makes me want to visit Guyana, especially Bath Settlement. Thank you!

Denny, a nice family get together. This is how you enjoy it - plain and simple. I see Fish Pro is with you. Tell him I just heard from my guys up China Man landing that the water is dropping big time and they are catching the big ones, so its time to make your move. I mailed out another large envelope with some photographs of the October 21 fish and hunt on the 10th Jan, to the Clerk of the Mon Repos Municipal Market. This you should get in another two to three weeks. Don't know why you did not get the first set. Check with the Clerk and informing him or her to expect this envelope for you. .

You have to par boil the labba meat, throw away the water then cook to remove the bushy smell/taste.. Labba is delicious with XM or ElDorado. You know the old saying -"Whoever drink the black water with Rum and eat labba has to come back fo mo." Its a craving..When I watch that water moving downwards to the falls it raises up my ego to come and fish again.Feed my friend the big black Caiman at the landing and when you get his photo - display him on youtube.

I wish i had a family..... I should say, a good family. My family is sick and dysfunctional. All i do is fight with them so i am estranged from all of them. I don't even talk to my mother anymore. I haven't seen them in years. And i don't want to relive the pain. I gave them too many chances. So i'm all in the big wide world all by myself. Its depressing at times. But the only thing that gives me comfort is wTching ARD and other videos like this on KZbin. I gotta give KZbin respect. I learned more on KZbin than i did in college or life.

Danny .... I mean this in an informative way. Stop misinforming Guyanese people. Pelau is not only made by Trinidadians. Educate yourself and those who know should speak up. When I was young and lived in Guyana (haven't been back in 45 years) our parents made pelau for us, it was mostly cooked by muslim families since beef was used in the dish. All those same ingredients was used. Since people make the same dish in a different way, using different spices .... it's the same dish. Lentil and pigeon peas was the constant. My Mom would tie spices (clove, cinnamon, cardamum, dried thyme etc) in a piece of cloth and lower it into the dish to infuse flavor. Pelau was also served at muslim weddings...... it was at mine! I hope this clarifies for Guyanese people, that Pelau is and has always been a Guyanese dish. Cheers.

@@ITSOURLIFEARD ... I remember eating pelau and pelaf once a week. It was mostly made by muslim families back in the 50's to early 70's. This was because of foodstuffs, kerosene and oils that were banned by the then government. Pelau was a staple and tasty dish and came with Indians through indentureship. Guyanese of African origin had a similar dish which mutated into versions of fry rice and cook up. They would burn the sugar at the beginning then add the ingredients. Guyana has changed a lot. Life is getting faster and many of the old ways are put on the shelf until forgotten.
