There are camera monitors for infants that doesn't connect to a network, so parents can supervise their sleeping toddlers from another room (i.e. when the mom has to cook in the kitchen and no one is able to watch over the sleeping baby) without the risk of someone hacking the camera.

Those of us who build them and also know about IP addresses know how easy it is to reverse a camera to see what's going on. my friends parents work a lot so they're never home and they have cameras. It gives them peace of mind that they can check if their kid got home ok, isn't sneaking out, doesn't have ppl over, etc. Not everyone needs cameras, but it does help some people
