Family sues Panera, saying its caffeinated lemonade led to Florida man's cardiac arrest

The family of a 46-year-old Florida man has filed a wrongful death and negligence lawsuit against one of the biggest fast-casual restaurant chains in the U.S., claiming Panera Bread Company's caffeine-filled lemonade drink led to his death.
David Brown had high blood pressure and didn't drink energy drinks, but the lawsuit said he believed the Panera Charged Lemonade was safe since it was not advertised as an energy drink. It was offered in the same place as the restaurant chain's non-caffeinated or less-caffeinated drinks, according to the lawsuit filed Monday in Superior Court in Delaware, where Panera Bread Company is registered. #panera #lawsuit

Why is your coverage of this so bad. 11,000 mg of caffeine is just plain incorrect. The large sized drink roughly contained 400 mg and he drank 3 of them then walked home. He would have died with roughly 1200 mg of caffeine in his system, way off from your 11,000. Way to get this entirely wrong. Imagine one drink with over 3,000 mg of caffeine. Also in this case it really might be helpful to acknowlege that the victim had a mild intellectual disability.

I'm really sick of people having zero responsibility for themselves. Especially when they've been living with a certain condition for years. The whole idea that a caffeinated beverage dispenser should not be by other non caffeinated drinks is actually insane. No sympathy for this group, just like no sympathy with the group in the first lawsuit. At this point I just see it as nothing more than the world weeding out folks who are too stupid to keep themselves alive, plain and simple.

Well it definitely is an issue with Panera cuz the drink is advertised as “CLEAN” caffeine that doesn’t cause any of the issues of normal caffeinated products….

@@rosebudz5 your lack of intelligence is showing. Nowhere did they ever advertise that it is a clean caffeine with none of the side effects of 'normal caffeine'. The whole point with them marketing it as clean is because it's plant based and green coffee extract. Starbucks was the exact same way with their Refresher drinks when they came out and parents constantly tried buying them for small children because they didn't look up what green coffee extract was. While companies aren't fully transparent in marketing always people need to understand for themselves what they are putting into their bodies period.
