I finally finished what my mom started, and at 21 years of age, I 100% completed Super Mario Galaxy. This was her absolute favorite game of all time, and it was my favorite game growing up because of the memories I had playing through it with her. We'd take turns when we died, but there was many a time where I was perfectly content with just watching her play through it. She'd always eventually hand me the wiimote and nunchuk when she needed help clearing a level. Well unfortunately, she never got to fully complete the game as she'd end up passing away due to heart issues in early 2014 (Actually 10 years to the month of me writing this, believe it or not). I hadn't really touched the game since then, but thanks to emulation, and the power of a little thing called a Steam Deck OLED, I finally was able to sit down, and fully complete the game in a few days. A journey I feel was long overdue. The cutscene that this music plays for, I had never seen until tonight. My eyes shot open, as for the first time in over 10 years, I had unlocked something brand new within a game I thought I knew like the back of my hand. And when Rosalina looked down on the Earth and said, "Thank you... I will be watching you from beyond the stars." I absolutely lost it. That felt like it was a message FOR ME... As if I wasn't meant to see it until now, as an adult. As if it wasn't Rosalina who was speaking, but instead it was my own mother speaking to me through a game we both cherished. Needless to say, I found a little bit of closure I didn't know I needed, tonight. Not only did this game create core memories for me, and shape my very childhood, but it also managed the give me the gift of closure, years later. It gave me a personal journey that helped me settle unresolved heartache and grieving. It feels like such a weight has been taken off of my shoulders... Thank you, Nintendo.

I was in second grade and had a birthday party only a few days prior which is when I got my Wii (which was my very first console) along with New Super Mario Bros Wii and Super Mario All Stars. Anyway I had just gotten home and as I walked through the front door I saw a white game case on the coffee table. And inside was this LEGEND of a game. I still remember being so happy and excited that after thanking my mom so many times, I popped the game in. I still remember the first time I heard the intro music, the first time I walked through the Mushroom Kingdom and watched everything go boom, and the first time I watched mario wake up on a field of flowers by a rabbit on a small and mysterious planet.
