Between the insurmountable pressures put on mothers with the hormonal changes, it's crazy to me there isn't more psychiatric support for new mothers. What happened to Lindsay Clancy, Andrea Yates and some women I know is horrific.

In the USA. Mothers are expected to do everything for themselves with no support. Then go back to work after they just gave birth. It's horrendous abuse of women.and infants.

that isn't necessarily true. Clinical depression is notoriously hard to treat. My Godmother required electro-convulsive shock therapy and still she struggled. SSRIs sometimes make it even worse, or create other problems, like irritability and hostility. Insurance companies are coming around to the realization that this is a problem money doesn't fix.

@@abeal49but it’s true that mental health care is still being snubbed by health insurance. Medicare has told people that they don’t consider dementia a health issue. That’s ridiculous.

PPD can intensify or bring up buried stresses. Mothers need so much support. Mindfulness meditation exercises, like in the book "30 Days to Reduce Depression" by Daniels, can help relieve some symptoms. The pressure of being a new mother and all the responsibility can be easily overwhelming.

It's very sad. My baby girl is now five years old but when I was pregnant and right after I didn't think we would make it. What hurts the most is living in a country that will ignore women cries for help while rolling out the red carpet if ur 1 year old says it's a girl born with testicles 😢. Let me go before I go off.. Jesus please help us, we need you ❤

Nobody cares about the hard work of mothers. I feel super pressured to satisfy everybody. I think when you decide that is that you just want to rest and be left alone not being around all that. They say “you are not alone” but we really are.

This reminds me of pmdd, pretty similar characteristics except this happens in divided periods of a womans cycle. Endless thoughts of hopelessness, anger and suicide ideation, plus disassociation. Some of us women struggle so so much 💔 so disappointing that even in today's healthcare system not much is done to help us females with reproductive and hormonal issues.

I am so blessed that I never developed any sort of postpartum diagnosis, because just the hormones of it all is enough. Those first few months postpartum with my first were the hardest of my LIFE, I can't imagine also suffering from PPP, PPD, and/or PPA on top - they watched me closely for it though due to my mental health history which I am also so so grateful for. My heart just breaks hearing stories like these.

I personally understand what that mother went through since I too had the worst postpartum depression in 2002 when my third child was born it's the worst experience I had I tell my son about now that he's 21years old it took me long time to tell him that just because we mom's keep like a guilt in us eventhough it's not our fault, I'm truly sorry for.that family the loss of that young lady

The real villain is the insurance company. Let's not get this twisted. How can they decide to end her care?
@abeal49
@abeal49 10 ай бұрын
in the story they said "her insurance coverage ran out." They didnt say the insurance company made a decision to end her care. It is quite possible that she was getting her insurance coverage through her job, stopped working, and the policy lapsed. We don't know what happened, just that her insurance coverage "ran out." Maybe they couldn't afford the premiums. You can't assume the insurance company decided to end the coverage. In any case, if her physician had prescribed antidepressants, there is no reason they couldn't have paid for the prescription out of pocket. Just because your insurance doesn't cover something doesn't mean you cant just pay for it yourself..

What a terrible thing to say. I hope the family does not read your comment. Have you lost someone in your immediate family suddenly and unexpectedly? If yes, I am surprised you could judge someone by a few sentences filmed for a news station, an already likely uncomfortable scenario. If you haven't, consider yourself lucky that you don't understand the multitude of emotions and shock that comes with those early days.

I had PPD and I suspect PPOCD as well. Horribly intrusive thoughts and anxiety for nearly a year. One thing that helped was trying to pinpoint when my symptoms were worse. After a poor nights sleep I always had worse symptoms. The low energy made everything harder. Finding a hobby (knitting and reading, even just audiobook) made a huge difference along with a little sunshine, talking to a friend or loved one about what I am feeling, sleeping as much as I can, walking, and eating healthy. Little adjustments across different areas of my life added up to a huge change and I went from my lowest point to the best I had felt in nearly a decade. Don’t lose hope. Just take the next small step.
