My grandparents came from Ireland and Italy. Regarding Corned beef, it is truly an American meal. Back in the old days the Irish couldn't afford the bacon (ham) so they made due with the cheapest cut of meat they could afford. Hence the start of Corned Beef and Cabbage in the tenements of old New York@
