Some of my friends are telling me not to get a diode and go to CO2. Any thoughts about that? I mainly want to make smaller things like ornaments and maybe a cutting board and tumblers. Looks like this unit can do all that?

Diodes are a great place to start. The price point is good. You can make ornaments, engrave cutting boards and even make tumblers. Diodes are slower, but again, a good place to start and may be all you ever need.
