Yeah but it *did* change, she laughed; he missed it and didn't call it out. They could have kept going for a few more minutes.

The laugh *was* the change but he didn't call it out, he dropped the ball. That's how repetition works, you call out everything you observe and that's how the repetition changes.

Genius. They did what I always want to see on with Meisner repetition - each of them listening, and creating newly subtextual deliveries. So many people just repeat and don't try to invent new interpretations and intentions using subtext.

But it's not about trying to invent them, it's about really observing and listening and letting the reactions come naturally.

@@supremelysmokeypotatotowel7934 Of course. But, when you see professional actors do Meisner, they 'naturally' invent subtext and intention. Subtext is paramount to credible deliveries. The amateurs typically just repeat ad infinitum. Not sure where they need to re-invent the wheel in terms of getting to that point, but simple reputation without shifts in subtext or intention is a waste of time.

I think the Meisner exercises are complete BS and they don't make someone a better actor. Waste of time.
