Father, I do not believe that C.S Lewis ever became a Catholic. Let's keep our own "home" in our Anglican Episcopal heritage! Cardinal John Henry Newman, now a canonized saint in the Roman Catholic Church, did convert to Roman Catholicism after spending years as an Anglican priest and one of the leaders of the Oxford Movement that sought to get the Church of England back to more of its "High Church" roots. But certainly, not one of Church of England, Anglican heroes -- C.S. Lewis.

So, you’re right! There were rumors that CS Lewis departed for Rome, and he seemed to be leaning in that direction, but it doesn’t appear that he actually swam the Tiber. Mea Culpa.
