He was my Mom’s all time favorite singer’s. My Mom passed away in 89 when I was 12 and my brother was 8. When we heard that Kenny passed away my brother and I said finally Mommy can get a concert in Heaven from him. My brother and I know all his songs and reminds of our growing up. I was 15 when Kenny Rogers and the The First Edition came out with a ground breaking and the most psychedelic song I've ever heard. "Just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in ". This was kind of a game changer for us young long hairs. What a contrast with his later career in country. The common thread was how great he was regardless of the genre. Thank brother I'm getting caught up on my favorite shows.

Kenny's first major worldwide hit was 'Lucille' in 1977. My dad bought his album called 'Kenny Roger' in 1977 and I've always loved it. Kenny's singing on the track 'I wasn't man enough' is simply amazing and the best he's ever performed.

It is amazing how many hits Kenny Rogers was able to rack up in a long career in music. After a couple of rough starts, Rogers stuck with it until he hit it big as a solo country act. The smooth vocals and great crossover songs from country to pop make him a legend. It was said that Kenny was generally a nice guy. I remember when we were just kids, Kenny Rogers being all over radio before we got hooked into rock bands of the period like Journey, Styx, Rush, Cheap Trick, Tom Petty and more.... RIP Kenny Rogers.

@@SuperDrJeckyl Yes, First Edition were considered rock back then. Jimi Hendrix even commented on liking "What Condition My Condition is in." I only learned of it by watching a documentary on Kenny Rogers on you tube before Christmas because I find it interesting. Country music is not my wheelhouse. KR was very talented though. His music was real, done with heart.

Kenny Rogers was a great singer! I can remember my mom being a big fan of his and play his records when I was young. Plus, I am not sure if you remember Jordan, but back in 1980 until 1988 they had a TV show called Solid Gold that would have all types of music on the hour show. It was hosted by Dionne Warwick, Marilyn McCoo, and Andy Gibb as well. I am surprised that Ryan Seacrest has not tried to revamp the show yet because he is on the Top 40 Countdown and does the Dick Clark New Year's Eve show. Mr. Rogers was even on the show performing a lot of the music that he made to perform. I believe at Christmas time they would have a special on Solid Gold. Enjoy your vlogs and travels Jordan.
