@@zoid_on_youtube lol, that's only because they're not learning new stuff or not learning at all, the vast majority of players doesn't even know the fundamentals. That's my opinion, I believe you need 10,000 hours of chess hardwork to become a GM and 5000 hours if you are a prodigy of learning and pattern recognition.

I'm always impressed by the confidence of Daniel's chess lore. He'll see a position come up and then launch into a 5 minute detour of some famous game played on a rainy night in Stoke featuring chess grandmasters with the whackiest names.

@@goomymaster6417 Well, that's pretty much all they do. They spend most of their waking time thinking about chess, which in its essence is just a game with a very limited number of pieces and rules. If most of your professional existence revolves around something as limited as chess, it's not that hard to get excited about some minute details.

That Rubenstein game was an absolutely amazing lesson! I loved when you finished explaining all the tactics and then showed how a single positional mistake led to all those explosions on the board. That game is a beautiful mix of positional and tactical play.

at 33:04 both missed rook 8 to g4 when after qh8+ kb7 and most likely nd4 he had rg1!! deflecting the rook from defense of e4 and after qxe4+ rg2 is forced and qxg2# the key difference is you allow check but prevent the queen from coming to c7

That would be mate in 3 since there would be the bishop h4 move Taking the queen only is the best move since it's mate in 2 then

I understand that Qh6+ requires an extra move because white could delay forced checkmate by one move by playing Bh4, but taking the free queen didn't look as pretty as leaving the queen alone and checkmating with the bishop. Taking the queen is indeed the shortest possible checkmate.

Sensai danya would rook C2 also have won rubenstein the game instead of rook H3? I’m noticing that if he tries to defend the queen with the rook on F2 we take the rook and it’s the same thing or if he defends on G1 then knight F2 is smother mate, if he ignores the threat we take the queen with bishop for checkmate, am I missing anythibg
