Growing up in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn, in the 60s and 70s, the local cemeteries were a favorite hangout since they were some of the few green areas. I could take you right to Jackie Robinson’s grave, and then worked summers during high school with my uncle at Machpelah Cemetery where Houdini is buried. I guess that’s why I love these videos so much. Keep up the great work!

Dear Arthur glad you came back to New York and unveiled more people buried here. I’m a regular visitor to Greenwood and Woodlawn Cemetery and one of the security guards there told me about Diahann Carroll being interred back in 2020. It just goes to show you that cemeteries aren’t static but are just as part of the living as they are of the dead. I just hope Cicely Tyson gets also gets a marker. I saw her last Broadway Performance The Gin Game with the GREAT James Earl Jones. That was an amazing performance seeing these two in their 80s STILL knocking it out. If I could go back in time it would be to 2016 to see them perform ONE more time. And man she could cuss! PS sorry about your friend. This made this particular edition of HG poignant.

Gilbert Gottfried is truly irreplaceable. A lot of people remember him as the voice of Iago, for me it was that and his guest spot on the Are You Afraid of the Dark? episode "The Tale of Station 109.1" (which was also Ryan Gosling's acting debut). I loved seeing Scott Joplin here, too. I have a soft spot for ragtime, and he was the best.

Gilbert Gottfried! Most memorable as voice actor for Iago the parrot in the Disney Aladdin films and TV series as well as the mischievous imp Mr. Myxtlk (pardon the misspelling) in the 90s Superman animated series. Dearly loved, missed and remembered. There is also a recent KZbin video of Jay Leno attempting to unsuccessfully give poor Gilbert driving lessons. Gilbert Gottfried was an extremely talented comedic genius and will be missed. Ditto for Roger C. Carmel.

As a fan who's about to turn 75 in a couple of hours, I seem to have lived longer than perhaps 2/3rds of the folks we've visited during this (as always) superb video. Of course advances in medical science have something to do with that! (And genetics!) By the way, I was delighted to see the raptor you featured in the beginning of the video--I think it's a juvenile hawk. It is typical of juvie raptors to make those amusing head movements. The peregrine falcon in my thumbnail is Gracie, named after Gracie Allen. Her mate was, of course, named George. They nested on top of a building where I worked in downtown San Francisco. But like a typical old person, I digress... Happy Holidays to you, Arthur!

There are a number of reasons I appreciate your videos, one being keeping memories alive, but you show that no matter how famous one might get, we all end up a name on a slab... One person I would have suggested covering is the grave of Archibald Gracie IV. Not only did he write his own history of the Battle of Chickamauga (a battle that his father - Archibald Gracie III - fought in as a Brigadier General in the Confederate Army), he was a survivor of the sinking of the RMS Titanic; writing one of the earliest detailed accounts of the sinking. The sinking led to a sharp decline in his health where he became one of the first Titanic survivors to die.
