I met JYD in 1983 at the Park Plaza Hotel. He and the rest of the wrestling crew were staying there. I was the night manager. He was a gentleman. He came over to us and introduced himself (not that he had to). He was articulate and well educated.

This one is another surreal video. The jyd had stadiums cheering for him, cartoons, t-shirts, action figures and now he rests in a cold quiet location off a road. If only the passers by knew.

As a avid avid wrestling fan since 84 I remember Junkyard Dog incredible wrestler. I always always love it when folks like you do wrestling tributes. But we need to work out a deal Scott lol you tag me or we find away to talk in P.M so you can let me know when you go do these videos. I remember going to the Sportatorium in Dallas as a young kid an as a 40yr old woman I still have the same passion for wrestling as I did bk then..

Huge WWF fan here. Yup, you’re correct that he did come out to Another One Bites the dust early on. I grew up with Moose Morowskis kid (Mitch) so I had a chance to meet a ton of old school (well now old school) wrestlers like the Bulldogs, Macho Man and Elizabeth - who I had such a crush on, Dick Slater, Tito Santana and a few more. Loved this vid, JYD was amazing.

I met JYD at a show in Southern Arkansas. Actually got to sit and visit for a long time in preparation for the matches. He was a very inspirational speaker. Moments before leaving after the final show that weekend, he called a special meeting for all the staff and family that was left. He spoke to each and every person and had something inspirational about what we had done during the last two nights. When he was done, there wasnt a dry eye in the auditorium. As I left that night I was looking forward to the next time I would announce a show with him. Unfortunately two weeks after the last time I saw JYD, I recieved a call with the sad news he had passed away due to the accident. It was so sad. But I can speak from experience when I can honestly say he was a class act. Rest In Peace JYD. The words you spoke to me that final night has made me a better professional person and a better announcer!!

What a beautiful tribute! 🙏❤️ I wonder if JYD had a heart attack too. Maybe they both had an undiagnosed medical issue. Wouldn’t be unheard of. My husband’s cousin wasn’t sick until he became EXTREMELY ill with heart disease at age 20 or so, and he died of heart failure. His dad died young of a heart attack too. They were both thin, active people.
