I love how at the start people are chatting and after "in the grouuuuund" there was DEAD SILENCE. She absolutely killed this performance.

That was incredible. I would love to sing this song at my winter concert but I don’t think I have enough power to really do it justice. My friend is singing this for a very big performance and I walked out of my practice room and heard her singing it and the beauty of it all almost made me cry. It almost brought me to tears
@JH-ln9lc4 жыл бұрын
Nicole Hughes awkward question is this song bad to sing individually if you’re white
@nicolehughes44964 жыл бұрын
Josie Hull No, it is not. It doesn’t matter your race as long as you keep in mind your own personal range. If you feel like you can really sing this song with power and emotion and over all control then you can definitely go for it. And even if you don’t have as much power, that’s fine just make sure to bring the emotion that it has with it. You want the audience to feel what you are singing.
@KawaiiKermit Жыл бұрын
This is a very hard song to sing, unless you’re super confident and had a lot of training leading up to it, you can easily butcher it. A friend in college sang this and she’s naturally an amazing singer and it literally made everyone cry

Could she get further away from that mic? Is it there for display only? Literally incredible! 😭😭😭👏👏👏👏👏
@morgan_lily_gray96295 жыл бұрын
Due to her having such a powerful voice and also because of how high the song goes she needs to be far away from the mic to stop feedback a mic can take so much and then it would just give up
@MrNotorious20104 жыл бұрын
If she was close to that mic singing that strong that feedback would literally scramble your ears and after 20 seconds you'd hear nothing but white noise
@japhun795 жыл бұрын
This is just sheer amazingness. This part is an automatic Tony win for the soloist if they can nail it like Audra did (and like Darlesia and Aisha Jackson do!)

I saw the play when I was a kid and was obsessed. My mom bought the soundtrack on CD (came with 2 discs) for me, and I listened to it all the time growing up. I have listened to Audra sing this song probably over 100 times and Darlesia absolutely, without a doubt, CRUSHED this.

You are your daddy's son. Ooh... Daddy never knew That you were on your way. He had other ladies And other tunes to play. When he up and left me, I just up and run. Only thing in my head- You were your daddy's son. Couldn't hear no music, Couldn't see no light. Mama, she was frightened, Crazy from the fright. Tears without no comfort, Screams without no sound. Only darkness and pain, The anger and pain, The blood and the pain! I buried my heart in the ground! In the ground- When I buried you in the ground. Daddy played piano. Bet he's playing still.
