Frank, I agree 100% with your statement. I will also add how embarrassing this is for Black people aggragately. We get criticized as Black people often because of adolescent results such as this. Lack of organization, lack of promptness. I hear all this talk about HBCU and traditions. This is a poor representation for Black people and HBCU regardless if the previous staff departed because processes should be in place preventing something as egregious as this from happening.... FAMU at full strength would have lost badly; however, the administration at FAMU is willing to sacrifice their depleted team for $450k - when will we ever respect our own?

Screw the fam vs nc game, this is the most anticipated HBCU football season thus far, we need every team in the SWAC at full capacity & ready to go in all faucet’s! Someone at FAMU REALLY DROPPED THE BALL. Coach Simmons cannot simply claim ignorance. The Head Coach is ultimately responsible for monitoring his players eligibility AT ALL TIMES. They CANNOT sustain 4 games with only the reduced squad!

True, there is a struggle at every dang HBCU. it's frustrating to see just how far behind the SWAC is. it seems that hell even Noth Dakota State, or schools like Appalachian State have grown. But it's like the HBCU stuck in mud. These schools need to go out get more innovative people, stop hiring frat and sorority folks or family folks. I follow all these head coaches and it seems they have no dang support. We want better but not willing to change or invest.

This is embarrassing and shameful. My daughter is a student at FAM and this is a knock on the educational prowess of the university. This interview is 'cute' but unfortunately also politically correct, stop dodging the issue and answer the question. I'm spending my money at an institution that is now getting NEGATIVE national attention on education. No, this is not an athletics issue, this is an academic issues that affects everyone wearing Green and Orange. I AM PISSED at the coaching staff, athletics department and school administration.

Prime can’t fix this. This is NCAA, he would have to appeal the decision, which they rarely do. Also, if he’s ineligible for the year that means he wasn’t eligible to play based on his transfer.

Are you seriously asking that question? We all know why there is an evident unwillingness to not only answer that question but to even address it. I am confident that is not a mystery to almost anyone. There will not be any mention of this by those in sports media who take every opportunity to voice praise and support for HBCU sports. I am confident that this will not be addressed by anyone on ESPN, including Stephen A. Smith who is wont to wear his HBCU jacket on certain occasions. It’s not his job! Coaches have so many things they are responsible for, they do not have time for this. Most schools have 2-3 counselors and advisers just for football. They had 1 for the athletic department!

But why did the football team have 1 academic advisor, why not just use the advisors from your program of study or the advisors that advise they students with an undeclared major??? If my major is business management, my advisors would be from the school of business.

When u run an athletics department u gotta have some serious 💰 to make sure it runs like a well oil machine . HBCUs don’t have that type of cash laying around . They get it & spend it fast . Just like anything else if u want good employees u gotta 💰.

Which left a big hole in that athletic department. Don’t forget this may also hurt the basketball teams .

With the exception of transfers being ineligible, maintaining a sufficient gpa in the classroom is the student-athletes responsibility. These college students are adults and also need to be held accountable. The minutiae of NCAA standards and regulations I can understand needing clarification through a compliance officer.
