the 100 usually performs this only after losing someone close to the program, so you know playing this means everything to the kids in that program. 💚🧡

Yes. This is more 'TSU style' band performance. We (Marching 100) probably 'adapted' this style from schools like TSU...and others. I did not like it ...at first....we Floridians ...are not the best practicing holy folks...though we have serious and strict 'Southern' roots & homage LOL.

I had the pleasure of playing under the direction of Dr. William P. Foster. This band was a family of musicians. An elite group of men (no women back in that day) who understood that time and dedication could only produce the best, no the very product. His book "Band pageantry": A guide for the marching band: set the standard for bands accross the country. What Tuskeegee lost; was FAMU gain.

I was a member of Cleophus Johnson's Morris Brown College Marching Wolverines, in the early 90's. So, of course I bleed purple. However, I love this song. It gives me chills that I cannot describe. My prayers goes out to my brothers & sisters at FAMU. There's nothing like a HBCU band. Also, prayers for comfort goes out to the Champion family. May God continue to bless us all!
