I find it utterly terrifying that for the majority of the second round, once Dio has Joseph's blood, he barely uses his Stand to fight Jotaro and relies almost entirely on pure physical might. There is the argument that he's supplementing it with The World, but it's still dope as hell seeing him directly fighting Star Platinum.

In order to attack Dio, Star Platinum's hand must briefly become tangible in order to transmit force into Dio, otherwise he would phase right through him. In addition, by attacking with an angle such that Dio will hit Jotaro if Star Platinum does not stop it, Star Platinum is forced to take the blow himself.

I really like what they did with Dio and Jotaro's dynamic in this. Jotaro feels a lot more human, whereas in the anime, he's much more inflappable, especially in the death of Kakyoin. Dio also relies a lot more on his natural vampiric abilities in this take, mostly using The World to freeze time (love the usage of the word "freeze," btw) or match blows with Star Platinum. The OVA didn't pull any punches with the horrific aspects of Dio either, such as innocent bystanders getting caught in the crossfire. He not only swatted them aside like flies, he _reveled_ in it, knowing it made Jotaro angry. I love how it took itself a little more seriously than even Araki himself did, especially when Dio powers himself up from Joseph's blood and he _doesn't_ get that stupid green lipstick. It's nice that we got some actual music in this part, since the sound mixing in the original was oddly quiet, although some of the silence _did_ lend itself better to the horror of Dio's power, such as when time froze. Regardless, I still got chills when So No Chi No Sadame started playing right at that final confrontation.

Honestly both kinda work. DIO is immature and megalomaniacal, he loves the high of being powerful and unstoppable. He spent so much of the fight playing with his food because he likes it, the only difference is which side of it we see. Jotaro sees him blinking around, wreathed in shadow, while DIO gets all the time he wants to gloat and enjoy himself when he freezes time.

OVAs usually are given to popular subjects that aren’t getting the full series treatment but also not getting the full movie treatment as well (90s wise.) Some def used it as a jumping off point, this might of just been because JoJo got big around the time to test the waters as well. But without araki’s style a lot of people would be turned off. Personally I’m not this is fine even though I prefer Araki’s more stylized crazy stuff.

Comparing the 2013 remake to this spectacle of an OVA, I can gladly say this fight was much more entertaining. The dialogue for both the sub and dub were well performed and extremely raw. A good way for me to describe how i feel about it is that the anime feels like it is a 1 to 1 adaptation of the manga keeping almost every detail and that translates weirdly at some points. Meanwhile the ova feels like how live action adaptations are done where some stuff is changed to save time. However both keep the spirit of the manga very well.

It had a better sense of weight, with Jotaro and Dio using their stands to literally launch themselves around the city rather than just sorta flying. Plus the more careful use of time stop and more interaction with the environment made it feel like the setting was more important to the fight.

I love how the 1993 OVA adapts this fight. I believe the anime adapts Jojo in a better way than the OVA but it has a catch. The Jojo 1993 OVA adapts it in a more serious tone with less of the flamboyant over the top bizarre style of Jojo, the OVA is more serious and terrifying than the anime due to it trying to be more serious and terrifying instead of bizarre and comic. The OVA truly give us a more realistic feel on the fight and IMO it even makes the Jotaro character more Humanized and less cold on this final fight. I had the feeling through Jotaro vs Dio fight that Jotaro was too cold and nonchalant while Dio acted even like Joker sometimes and not taking things serious unlike the OVA counterpart of the fight that Jotaro actually seems fucking terrified during some parts of the fight and how Dio seems much more serious and less flamboyant and actually looks like a bloodlust terrifying manancing vampire that seems invincible. Some of the better aspects of the OVA fight are how there is less scenes in the stopped time and more full blown action scenes. The time stop seems like a terrifying ability in the OVA while in the Anime it isnt like that, in the OVA we realize Jotaro can move in the stop time not because of the Over reaction of Dio seeing him move but due to how DIO just disappears and starts using the Time stop to "teleport" to test and see how Jotaro reacts to that and thats when we realize Jotaro can see in the Time stop as his eyes follow Dio teleporting. I love how Dio in the OVA tests to see if Jotaro can see in the time stop and seems actually surprised but still confident that he can win and not overly surprised and scared like he seems sometimes in the Anime. Some of the key scenes of the fight in the OVA still are present but the in between scenes seem somewhat different from the anime. I like how Dio throws a boat at Jotaro, i love how there is people in the city giving us a more sense of reality as we can see in the scene where Dio punches Jotaro into a "Subway" or something like it, the scenes of them fighting hand to hand and how Jotaro expression seems to show that he is terrified and that Dio seems bloodlust is just so cool and makes Jotaro look more Human and Dio more like a bloodlust monster that is actually terrifying to encounter, specially when Jotaro blocked one of Dio punches and in the scene where Jotaro throws a piece of a tower on Dio and Dio destroys it with a lunatic expression on his face. Finally the Oil tank instead of the Road Roller scene is kinda of a greater scene in my opnion. Dio throwing a Road Roller on Jotaro is more over the top and bizarre and thats kinda of the essence on Jojo BUT the OVA being more serious and Dio actually trying to finish Jotaro with an Oil tank makes far more sense for me. Throwin an Oil tank makes more sense because of them already being too fucking strong and throwing an Road roller means that still Jotaro can maybe even punch through it to not be completely smashed by it, but an Oil tank explodes and also releases gasoline that burns over time and thats a far better way to finish Jotaro trying to explode and burn him than trying to throw a Road roller on him. (Sorry for some spelling mistakes as English isnt my primary language)
