I'm super happy to have found this channel. It's been a hobby of mine to do little projects like this with 3D printing and robotics since college (mech engr). I'm currently building a 3d printed StarWars turret that's remote controlled (if my printer will decide not to randomly stop on a 32 hour print). My favorite part of your style is that you show the mistakes in initial prototypes, and discuss how you fix them. Tolerances, material failure, and also just accidentally not realizing something wrong in the design in these types of projects happen all of the time. Many channels cut the unsuccessful versions from the video. I find it to be much more realistic and supportive showing people that these things happen all the time with initial design. Keep it up!

'foils are VERY cool, and very doable! the type with a skimmer (disk or arm) to automatically regulate the pitch and ride height may work out the best, water does have to be pretty smooth/flat. once they're up they consume very little power, may not be a speed demon, but LONG run times are doable.

Nice job, that was entertaining. Years ago after I had an unfortunate accident with my RC Plane while I was reconstructing the wing I made a Pontoon boat out of styrofoam then sealed it in the same plastic covering shrink-wrap used on the Plane. After mounting my .25 hp motor, a rudder, two servos and a tank out I went to a small lake. I learned real quick I should not have gone out too far! I waited forever for the current to bring my boat back after the engine stopped.

I enjoy boating too, so I just subscribed. In fact a boat was my first RC and very quickly, after getting hung up on an underwater rock shelf I learned I would need a rescue system, so I always take the boat out with an inflatable raft & electric pump in the trunk of my car. I can be ready to rescue my boat within 8 minutes. I may need it this year too, because I just put a Traxxas vileneon motor in a 23" Proboat! It may need wings. Thanks for this video. I was literally just wondering yesterday why I've never seen an EDF on a boat. Now I have and I'm encouraged to try the same.

A "step" in the hull will help the water detach from the bottom of the boat and it will get up to speed faster. I think thats important, especially if using an EDF which doesnt have much torque.

Just an idea to help make the design more waterproof, if you make the orange top more Iike a cap (flat top with walls around it) you could raise the opening and have the magnetic top slide over the outside edges of the newly designed raised opening. This might also allow you to add some sort of silicon ring to be placed within the cap for an even more waterproof design if designed properly. I would also recommend designing compartments within the boat to stop the “guts” from sliding around.
@Arek_R.5 жыл бұрын
If you're printing it anyway why not use all the boat science trickery and add all those fins and other things improving the speed/floating? Look up real speed boats' underneath and learn from it may be?

You have to flatten the bottom of the hull so it glides better. As a result, it will also get better and faster. Replace the hump on the bow with a smooth, round transition to the top. With these modifications it drives much better and you do not need so much power to start. I think your videos are very good and I would be happy if more of them came. Warm greetings from Germany
