I called Dell and found the part number for my Precision 5540. They noted that the parts may be different from different 5540's but these are the numbers for my 5540, which is around 3/4 years old. Part numbers are: Precision 5540 (2021) Left Side Fan F01PX Right Side Fan V9H8N

This is great information. For reference, the computer I am working on in this video is a 2020 model.

Hello, I'm quite desperate. I own a Dell Precision 5540, and in the last few days, I've been experiencing a startup error indicating an issue with the graphics card fan, so the right one. I live in Europe, specifically in Switzerland. I urgently need the part. Could you tell me where I can buy it? On the official Dell website, I can only find the CPU fan. Help!

Hey. I am sorry that this wont be a ton of help, but when I did my replacement, it was still under warranty. I got the parts via a warranty claim. I previously took it apart looking for part numbers and could not locate any markers on the fans themselves. I also looked back through the correspondence with tech support and could not find it either. I remember having the same trouble when looking. Maybe you can get support to give you the information even if not under warranty.

Do you have the part numbers or the links to the fans? On the Dell website, there is only one fan available. I'd like to buy both at the same time and replace both while I have the machine open.

Unfortunately I don't. I have gone back through my conversation with support and I even pulled them back out and I don't have record of the numbers. When replacing mine, I was working with tech support and they had them identified as "CPU Fan" and "GPU Fan". In my case, I just ended up having support mail them as a warranty replacement, so I never identified the part numbers. Even without warranty, you might be able to get their tech support to provide them.

Great video. My work laptop (same model) started making a screaming noise yesterday. Since the only moving part is the two fans, it must be that. Sounds like the one next to the power supply. I am trying to find out if our IT department can replace the fans. Might be time for a new laptop, as my space bar isn't working well.
@honeyrockacres9 ай бұрын
Thanks! I would agree that it's probably the fans. That is what mine did. Hopefully it's under warranty and they can make it easy. Good luck!

@@honeyrockacresIt's issued by my office, but I don't think our IT department repairs our laptops. It's about time for a replacement, anyway.

The screws actually are T*5, which I think you corrected on the actual video, but not the audio (your spoken part mentions T*4). What are the exact fan part numbers?

Hi. Nice work. Can you tell me part numbers of both fans? Thank you in advance.

Thanks. I'll try to find them. I don't remember if I have them recorded somewhere.

I apologize. I cannot find them in my service request. I know it won't help for now, but next time I need to take it apart, I will share those.

You could replace thermal paste and thermopads when you had "everything open".

@honeyrockacres Жыл бұрын
If you do the things in our other comment, then yes it should. Mine does now.

I pick one of these up next week, I've been told they run hot and adding new thermal paste is a good idea. Any thoughts

Also undervolting the cpu with throttle stop

It has been a good computer, but it does get toasty sometimes. It hasn't been bad if it stays on the desk, but in your lap it gets too hot. Good quality thermal paste helped and as someone else stated, thermal pads wouldn't be a bad idea if you're opening it up anyway.
