THANK YOU!! I've been saying this for years now! I don't get why there's not more of us out there insisting upon this lol. Like, joking aside, he literally seems to have absolutely no idea how humans work/think/act.. really just oblivious to the human condition in general. No one knows his background of where he got his money..and just watching his work, you can clearly tell as you said, basically, he spent no more than a week around humans. I think he's the strongest evidence yet that there is alien life out there.. and that it's here among us lol. Like, I'm kind of joking.. but at the same time.. for real.. if aliens have been earth/are here(because there's no question whether or not there's life/intelligent life out there; the probability of there not being any , is almost infinitely minuscule) then Tommy is 100%, most definitely one of them.

Greg Sesteros, who plays Mark and was line producer and friend of Tommy Wiseneau, wrote a book called "The Disaster Artist:My Life Inside The Room". If you've seen this movie, you NEED the book! Preferably the audio book, as Sesteros does a dead on perfect Tommy Wiseneau impersonation all the way through it. And after the book, watch it again. Puts what is on the screen into some sort of context AND adds a lot more questions. MAN do I love this movie!!!

I am *SO* glad that somebody *finally* mentioned the line, "We're probably gonna have a baby eventually anyway!" This line has always been one of my favourites in terms of complete inanity, and yet strangely, it's never mentioned in a lot of the Room reviews that I see. People pay so much attention to the "Oh hai Mark", "Hai doggie", and "You're tearing me a-*PART*" classics, that little gems like these end up glossed over. Why? It's so hilariously dumb, and this guy couldn't have said it better. "No, you're *not*, because you *just* said that you're planning to *tell* him that you've been cheating on him." It's made even funnier by Lisa saying it so defensively, as if perhaps it's a logical explanation. At last, it's gotten the slam that it deserves. Good job dude! :)

You know something I just realized? The story would have been SLIGHTLY more tolerable if either: 1) Lisa was cheating on Johnny if he were abusive....or they were having a huge fight. But as weird as Johnny is, Lisa is only cheating on him because "He's so...boring." It wouldn't excuse the cheating, but there would have been a legit reason for it, and it would make Lisa look like less of a bitch. 2) Mark was the main focus. You could show him actually falling in love with Lisa, but conflicted because she's Johnny's fiance. Maybe he starts to say no to her more and more often until he decides at the party to never speak to Lisa again. That way, Johnny is only a secondary character and never overstays his welcome, and Mark actually goes through some real character development instead of just looking like a twit that can never take a hint. None of it will save the acting or cinematography though.

I've read that Tommy has never told anyone his age, yet it's quite obvious he's in his 50's. I honestly think he's a bit delusional and thinks he fits in with a bunch of college age kids. It's quite sad really. This brings me to the whole football thing. It would make sense to me that Tommy's idea of young American men was molded when he was young, while watching American television and seeing men play football. He associates this with youth and it plays into his delusions. He has some very troubling issues. I would not want to be inside his mind.

He didn't buy a camera for the movie. He bought TWO!! One 35mm camera and a HD Digital camera. which he thought would be the way future films would be shot only to end up using absolutely no footage from the HD camera on the movie. Source: The Disaster Artist by Greg Sestero.

Wow. You finally reviewed "The Room". I can say my life is complete now. This is by far my favorite bad movie. So much that I have a "Oh hai mark" shirt, and put actual energy into meeting Tommy. If you knew me, you'd understand how ambitious that is (I'm lazy as hell). My fiance is one of those folks who don't understand the humor that surrounds shitty movies, but this one is so bad, she actually sat and watched it with me, and laughed at all its horribleness. That's how "good" it is. I love to attach my own illusion of depth to scenes. Like Denny being a con artist who just looks like a kid, and takes advantage of Johnny. It's so bland and ridiculus, it's like a blank sheet of paper that you can write whatever you want onto it. Good review dude.

Tommy Wiseau has made $5 million :o that's more than most of us have made and enough to let you live the rest of your life comfortably without ever doing anything again. Damn, he is from now on a role model of mine.
@Biring110 жыл бұрын
He's made more than that! The entire budget of 6 million was completely self-financed from Wiseau himself where he bought two cameras: an HD-cam and a 35mm they filmed with simultaneously.. He became rich through selling branded clothes by himself. Recommend reading the book; it's hilarious

HrTjernobyl He's Belgian and was born in 1959.
@Biring19 жыл бұрын
Tornado1994 Nah I think the book said he was born in the old Soviet Union and managed to immigrate to France before getting to the United States. His real name is a mystery. Wiseau is a version of 'Oseau' that I think means bird in french since he made a living in France selling toy birds or something and people called him that. The man is a complete mystery, therefore the book is ingenious.

"Making" $5 million doesn't mean he ever had it all at one time.
@TheMrMojoRisin6710 жыл бұрын
You totally need to read Greg Sestero's "The Disaster Artist," which goes into detail about the making of the film. For example, Tommy's outfit in the rooftop scene? Turns out, he got impatient waiting for the costume person to help him, so he just took a random blue blazer off the coat rack and acted out the scene in his street clothes. The costume designer was actually quite horrified by this choice when she eventually showed up.
@Tornado19949 жыл бұрын
Also the original actress who played Lisa was only about 3 years younger than Tommy. But her Belgian accent was so unintelligible, that Tommy was forced to recast her.

+RedWolf316 Supposedly the story is Tommy Wiseau was inspired by "The incredibly talented Mr. Ripley" and this was supposed to be his version of that film. He met the actor who plays Mark in the film in acting class and asked him to play that part after already shooting 2/3 of the film and firing the previous actor who had played Mark. This actor who ended up playing Mark actually wrote a book about the experience of working with him on the film called "Disaster Artist". James Franco bought the rights and is adapting a screen version of it in which he himself will produce, direct, and play Tommy...

However, it was really fun and both were so nice. They should have made the scene in a way that the drug dealer fell off the roof could have led to more character development, them all having witnessed the death and having to figure out how to move on from there, cops get involved and boom, the Room is now officially the interrogation room. Making the title actually relevant.

This movie is very easy to understand, in my opinion. Tommy was obviously screwed over in the past by some girl (I'll assume her name was Lisa) who cheated on him. So he writes the play, the book, and the screenplay and makes this movie just to show his ex how she destroyed his life. I could almost imagine Tommy kidnapping his ex-girlfriend and tying her to a chair and forcing her to watch 'The Room' and saying at the end, "See what you almost made me do? Do you see? Do you see?"
