I saw this movie as a kid and can confirm that it was NIGHTMARE-INDUCING. Hooooooly shit, man. Actually, I feel like I saw ALL of the trauma enabling films and television shows at the time. I also remember a HUGE thing that bothered me was how different, dark and off-putting everything was due to how drastically different it was from the original MGM film. Surreal and depressing.

One of the scariest portrayals of a killer Santa (imo) appeared on an episode of "Tales from the Crypt." A woman and her daughter are trapped in their house by a madman in a Santa suit who is trying to get inside.
