Kecha wacha ear folds have another use, they lose their weakness to both sound and flash bombs. With how loud the monster hunter world is, having a weakness to sound would be bad for survival. And blocking out light might be useful when hunting flash bugs. Also I think kecha has animations of it peeking out of it's hood to look for you.

Something I just thought of about Blood Orange Bishaten eating primarily nuts like pinecones. Most pinecones only open and germinate with fire. Sure the specific ones in game explode, but one reason it could've evolved fire breath is to force pinecones to open to make eating the seeds easier.

Ketcha is a fun fight but what I would like to see is him picking up sticks or rocks to throw them or hit you with them, they clearly establish him as a very intelligent monster, both in his cutscenes and in actual gameplay he goofs around, messes with us and then laughs... It would be interesting if half way through the fight he realizes this is not a joke anymore and started taking in a bit more seriously grabbing rocks and sticks etc and fighting us with them Also the ears are probably a little transparent and he also peeks out once in a while that's how he sees

I honestly don't think Bishaten does too much of many things, if at all. He caprures the essence of Kerasu Tengu fairly well, especially their trickery and mean spiritedness, though the sheer might his inspiration would be better suited to elder dragons and such. Overall, he's among the most memorable of Rise's Roster, and I hope to see him swinging in the canopies of Wilds.

Calling Blood Orange Bishanten BOB: NAH Calling it Orangeten: Hecc Yeah! I haven't had the chance to fight Kecha yet, but I'm currently playing 3U and it feels like a monster that would have been at home in third gen with all this potential for environmental use. The Flooded forest actually lacks a fighter that takes to the upper part of the map like Gigginox would (flying Duramboros does not count), so it would have been a great part of the roster. Bishanten I enjoy, but as you said Rise's lack of ecology based behaviours really hits it hard (and also Orangeten in the Sandy plains make no sense to me).

One thing I would have liked you to touch on was how Bishaten can use its tail to stick to walls while its other limbs remain free. It does not grab the wall - it simply pushes its palm into the wall, and it somehow sticks. From what I understand, the mechanism behind it is the same as how geckos can climb on almost any surface - it has grooves and/or tiny hairs in the palm of its tail-hand that take advantage of Van der Waals forces, which are "fluctuations in charge distributions in nearby molecules, resulting in attractive forces", and also perhaps taking advantage of the microscopic imperfections that even the smoothest-looking surface can often have.

Tbh, I really didn't appreciate Kecha Wacha when I initially fought it (I was admittedly, quite new to the series at the time, and had very little idea of what I was doing... 😅) but upon going back to grind it's Hunt-a-thon in High Rank, I found the mechanics of being able to pull it down from the vine canopy, either by flash-stunning it, or just with damage, and aiming to break it's parts, really fun. So more interesting than I initially thought... 👀

I feel like I’m torn on these two monsters, I like them both but I also don’t really care for them either? They have their charm and I think it’s a fun gimmick that when you down him you can grab bishaten’s fruits and throw them back at him. But an interesting detail I noticed is that Bishaten has a turf war with rathalos, which could imply that Bishaten may suffer heavy predation from them, while normal bishaten only overlap in the fringes of the shrine ruins bamboo steppes Blood orange bishaten overlap with rathalos and Rathian in the ruins, Sandy plains and the citadel. Maybe the dynamic is similar to a harpy eagle where rathalos dives at a quick speed to yoink the bishaten out of the canopy or in rathians case she simply runs them down in pursuit. And a idea I had for ash kecha Wacha is that maybe the fire assists in foraging? Ash kecha wacha may use thier firey mucus to smoke out alteroth putting their trunks in and breathing small puffs of fire that leave an area of smoke to get the alteroth to come out. Spectacular video as always!

On the topic of Primates, I'd love to see you tackle the elephant in the room; humans and wyvernians. Where do they come from? Are they related to other primates? Are they related to one another? Is there any evidence of a common ancestor? One of the things which has always stood out about a series that puts so much emphasis on the natural world and the inter-relationships of animals species is that the humans, the main characters, don't really seem to fit in the evolutionary family tree of Monster Hunter. Perhaps I've missed something.

A fun pair of monsters I've got mixed thoughts on. Kecha I adore, I'm a sucker for early-game monsters with distinct ecologies and personalities, easily my favorite of the monkey monsters across the series. Ash always came off as an oddity but it being a plains-dwelling species makes a lot of sense, and I do hope that with wilds we get a proper grasslands/open plains habitat as I feel they're one of the few weirdly underutilized biomes in the series, always on the fringes of some maps rather than being the central focus. A small detail with Oranguten I'm surprised wasn't brought up is the potential symbiotic relationship it could have developed with the pinecones that it feeds on. Using them as a defense mechanism by lighting them on fire is an interesting choice given that's how some pine trees spread their seeds, and so if at least some of the pinecones Oranguten feed on spread their seeds in this manner, then Oranguten provide a means of dispersal far greater than a wildfire would, while merely needing to sacrifice some cones for sustenance in the process. I almost wish we got to see the parent trees these pinecones came from, and if they're implied to be present across the Sandy Plains, Shrine Ruins, and even Citadel. As another little point on Oranguten, I REALLY like how the Sunbreak subspecies have alternate names to the typical subspecies naming scheme that work just as well: Oranguten, Auroracanth, Magmadron, Pyre-Kadaki. I really hope this is a trend that continues, feels far more natural than one species having a prefix while the other doesn't.

idk why people say Bishaten should've been a bird wyvern. Just because it has a beak like structure doesn't mean it's a bird. Plus, all the cool stuff about Bishaten stems from its primate inspirations, not the few bird inspirations. If Bishaten comes back in Wilds, I would like to see it crack nuts with its keratinized "beak" nose for easy consumption. Also refilling fruit from trees whenever it does its big barrage attack, or even making a point to pick up the more ripe fruit it threw out to put back in its pouch for later, since that fruit it threw out is still good to eat regardless. Kecha having its water blasts be about gelling up wings from insects is such a cool thing though. Maybe in WIlds it could have some interactions with Hornetaurs and Vespoids where they shoot a few from the air with the mucus, and you can see the Vespoid/Hornetaur struggling to fly and trying to fight or sting the Kecha while it tears it apart and eats it. Maybe afterwards it could drop a Vespoid stinger as a shiny, since I bet it makes a point to not eat that part.

Paolumu should have been one of these Fanged Beasts, the Bat features, fur, and even the puffed up throat for floating make way more sense on a gliding primate/mammalian monster than another flying-wyvern. There's no reason we can't get a Bat faced Kecha down the line, but Paolumu I feel reduces the chance of them reusing the concept

I would like future gen games to actually expand of sexual dimorphism in monsters. Thinks like smaller horns, colorful plumage, or other adaptations. We see this in the raths with males having bright red color, venomous talons, and bigger wings, while femals are green, a venomous barb on tail, and more land based conbat
@jockpackage1770

if the pouch was just for young, it wouldn't be on the males or at least less likely. it was likely for both reasons the whole time. it makes sense to be able to carry more food/defensive tools for any emergencies, given how dangerous and unpredictable this world can be. there would likely be competition and predation concerns, all throughout it's history. it is a little sad that both monkeys have fire subspecies but they are decent monsters. i like some of bob's pine cone thowing attacks as unique animations.

Nah, kecka wasn't doing too much at once design wise, saying Ash is mid is just not really true. He developed to be a much stronger glider to make up for a lack of swings on vines often and that's exactly what subspecies are supposed to do. Take something about the monster and change it up but keep enough of the original monster, Blood Orange isn't the best subspecies but saying he's mid is kinda pushing it. He's a good subspecies or a alright one a worse. He's definitely not mid

Bishaten and Kecha Wacha were not two picks I would have guessed from you, but hey they are some of the better low rank monsters. I never faced the two monkey, but they seem to be alright in their base forms, with the weaker and commonly disliked fire subspecies. Maybe we see some stuff in the next games. Also it will be interesting how much of the canon lore you will pull in for Teostra and Lunastra, since these two fire Manticores are pretty different to lions as a whole. And as a future monster maybe Agnaktor? If there is anything to go off of with that magma drilling Leviathan.
