So heres Iron Man 3!! AS USUAL, I FAN GIRLED OVER TONY THE ENTIRE TIME but I really loved seeing his growth in this movie. Throughout Iron Man 1, 2 and 3 you see so much character development on Tony, its probably what makes this film my favorite aspect of it. I don't want to spill too much for those who haven't seen it.... so stay tuned until the very end to see my entire review and thoughts on the movie!! Thank you guys and I hope you enjoy!

This movie is set six months after Avengers. In that time, Tony goes from the Mark VII armour, to prototyping the Mark 42. 35 suits in six months. Basically, Tony can produce a new suit in under a week. So, all those suits blown up at once, that's a symbolic gesture, trying to move past how he's been obsessing over them to distract himself from his PTSD and occupy his time when he can't sleep.

Always loved Iron Man 3. Exploring Tony's PTSD because of Avengers was a great direction to take him, and continue his character growth. It's also funnier, as you said, and I appreciate the fight choreography a lot in this film, such as when he's captured and is using minimal parts of his suit, or going between suits.

Basically, with Tony being Iron Man from here on: he can still wear suits, it's just that the arc reactor that powers the suit will be built into the suit itself, rather than the one previously embedded in his chest. So he can still be Iron Man, and if the reactor in a suit is damaged, it cuts off the power supply, but doesn't harm him directly.

@@jkfozul2316 Not quite. During the surgery he was clearly made full again, you can even see a marking on his chest at the end of Iron Man 3 where his arc reactor used to be. The Iron Man suits have always had their own arc reactors (except for the Mark 1) but now he himself isn't reliant on one anymore. The holding unit for the nanotech in Infinity War and Endgame are just attached onto his chest, you can even see him just janking it off at the start of Endgame.

This wasn’t about him giving up iron man, this is about him getting over his paranoia after New York. @@dannymartial7997 I don't think the way they handled Thor's made him a joke. I just think people saw how they changed him and thought it was funny without looking at the trauma underneath it. Welcome to Phase 2 of the MCU, Vicky! 😊 This is a really good movie. It does a great job showing Tony's PTSD following the events of the first Avengers movie. 3:33 That actor that looks familiar to you is actor Ben Kingsley. I love that scene when cameraman Gary sees Tony is the news van, and basically has a fanboy moment. LOL! Loved seeing Don Cheadle get a good action scene in when Tony and Rhodey work to save Pepper and President Ellis at the end. And Pepper being a major badass with her Extremis powers. Fun Fact: The necklace that Tony gives Pepper at the end of the movie contained the pieces of the shrapnel that he had removed. Up next in the MCU line-up: "Thor: The Dark World". Looking forward to your next reaction. 😊

So Tony got the shrapnel out of his heart, meaning he no longer needs an arc reactor to keep him alive. So if you see him with one, he’ll be fine if it’s damaged or removed. (Unless he’s in the middle of combat or flying, that would be bad.) Remember that.

"anyone can use an Iron Man suit?". If they could get one yes. Rhodes initially got his to fight Tony by just putting one on and using it. So you'd have to get it off of him or be able to gain access to his storage. All of which has security. And then since it's coded to him, if you were able to get ahold of it, he could just have it get off of you and onto him. It was always powering his suit while also keeping the shrapnel from his heart.

I love everything about this movie except the Extremis stuff... Tony dealing with his PTSD and anxiety, his interactions with Happy and the kid, his relationship with Pepper, and reinforcing the idea that when you get right down to it, Tony is a genius inventor and problem solver as much as a hero in a high tech suit. And you're right, I think this is some of the best writing of any of the MCU movies, even though my favorite will probably always be Captain America: The Winter Soldier. To answer your question: yes, Tony is in future films as Iron Man, but they also show him using his tech expertise with the Avengers a lot too (particularly working with Banner), which I really like. There's a lot of stuff to like in future movies!

You remember since the beginning of the movie and throughout....mark 42 is mentioned many times by Tony. Each suit he makes he name them a new mark number. This means Tony has created 41 more and has stored them into that hole that was opened when the police was at his place. In the end he only got Arc reactor removed which is in his chest.... cuz remember once more....Rhodes doesn't have one on his chest... but rather its on the War Machine suit directly.

This is my favorite Iron Man film… indeed, 75% percentile of all MCU films… for two reasons. 1) Heroes CAN (and often will) have trauma and PTSD. This is nothing to be ashamed of. And 2) the “damsel in distress” subversion, where not only is Pepper the one to put down the big bad, but in doing so demonstrates that all that pressure Tony was killing himself with (trying to protect the only thing he has) wasn’t even necessary.

Just comic book fans mostly disappointed that there was no real Mandarin in the film and too much of Tony not in the suit, which is honestly one of my favorite parts. Comic book fans have a silly thing where they don't like a character if they're not wearing this mask/costume enough. Psychologically think it has to do with their own self esteem issues about their appearance and wishing they could always be masked and living that fantasy through the character, or male issues about being stoic and emotionless, like a mask is.

Contrary to popular opinion, as a comic fan I was way more upset about how they changed Maya's character as opposed to The Mandarin. The Mandarin was never one of my favorite villains, so I was able to look past it pretty easy. But they did Maya so dirty, because Ike Perlmutter didn't want a female villain. Instead they made the main villain a character who was alive for one page in the comics. The villains are definitely weak in this movie, even compared to other MCU movies. But don't mistake me as saying I don't like this movie or shitting on it or anything like that. I still actually really like this movie.

The Mandarin bait-and-switch really bothered me too. But then I rewatched it a few years later, and upon revisiting it, and it was a lot better. Tony ultimately got the Mark 7 in The Avengers... then here, as we see, he had ultimately stopped on Mark 42 before the film events ^So yeah, he had a LOT of Iron Man suits to call. And JARVIS piloted them all simultaneously; he's the goat :P

don't know why people hate on this movie so much, it's not as good as 1 but it's still way better then 2.

Big part of the hates comes from comics readers that know how the Mandarin is in there. Aside from that the biggest problem I've seen is that he's not on the suit that much, which is the entire point of the movie. Pretty much every reactor that watches it likes it and it was the same with general audiences

People tend to hate on the Mandarin twist in this film, but I love it. Sure, totally not comics Mandarin... But to have it be Ben Kingsley is kind of genius. They pulled a reverse Ben Kingsley.

As a fan of Iron Man back to the original comics in the 60s I abhor it, but they did a decent job of setting things straight in Shang-Chi.

The director, Shane Black, landed this gif after working just previously with Robert Downey Jr. on the incredibly fun buddy crime film, Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang. You would love it.

Since you mentioned liking this movie’s writing a few times, you should check out Shane Black’s other movies (like the Lethal Weapon series, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, & The Nice Guys) Black is a writer & director who tends to do snarky detective movies (that almost always take place around Christmas). He cast Robert Downey Jr in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang in 2005 when RDJ was still seen as too risky to work with by most filmmakers and RDJ requested that Black get a shot at directing a Marvel movie when IM3 rolled around. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang in particular, because you already like RDJ, is a lot of fun. He plays a small time crook who ends up getting role in a detective movie and is assigned to shadow a private investigator (played by Val Kilmer) around for a few days, and of course, they stumble across a legit murder mystery.

Just so you know there is a short film (13 minutes) about Trevor (The Mandarin) that shows what happens to him after Ironman 3 if you're interested... It's called "All Hail The King" and it's on Disney+

The way I interpret this movies message is that Tony is like Steve Rogers. It wasn't the serum that made Steve special but he he was before he got it. Who he is as a person. So this movie does that for Tony. It's not about the suits or the tech. He is Iron Man with or without them because he is Tony Stark. As the joke went in The Avengers, take away the armor and what is he? A genius, billionare, playboy, philanthropist.

The armor he is designing in his lab at the start of the movie is referred to as Mk. 42. (Mark 42). Each mark being a different version of the ironman armor. He designs different suits with many different purposes in mind.

I wish I could go back before watching any of these movies. It was such a crazy ride. And we had to wait years inbetween these things. And I was 9 or 10 when the first Iron man came out. Never read any comics. I've loved every single marvel movie since.

Tony told the guy whose phone he smashed to bill him. The reason he smashed it was that he should not have asked that question and forced Tony to answer it, and his punishment is that he doesn't get to use his clip for his story, while everyone else still has their recording.

In 2013... I was so disappointed in the Trevor twist that I had convinced myself that there was another movie with a different cut Took me about 3 weeks to accept that this was the movie we got. The Mandarin was like the Thanos of Tony Stark villains and casting Sir Ben Kingsley, I was in complete denial that they would cast such a high calibre actor for such an insignificant role Also, if you watch the trailers at the time, they hint at a much darker movie (this was made in the shadow of The Dark Knight) So yeah. This is undeniably my least favorite Marvel movie
