@tarmaque2 жыл бұрын
@@Logan_Baron Yup. You'll even notice that Cap switches to Savate to fight him "fairly." And fairly kicks his French butt. Having been in WWII Steve would probably have been introduced to Savate, since many US soldiers were. Canonically Steve is expert in just about every kind of martial art known, without being a master of any of them. Hence Shang-Chi is a master of Kung-fu and could beat Cap in that one area, but Steve knows other kinds of martial arts and can switch it up. If they were restricted to la Savate then Cap would almost certainly beat Shang-Chi. That said, Shang-Chi was primarily based on Bruce Lee, who's philosophy of fighting is much like Cap's: Be like water, change to meet circumstances, depend on no style because that limits you, use whatever form you need at the moment. This is also very similar to thoughts in Musashi's _The Book of Five Rings_ where he recommends you be able to strike from any position, and follow no master's teachings blindly. Therefore my example may not be fully cogent.

There is a heartwrenching thing in how precise a casting choice Robert Redford was for Pierce, the mind wipe process they use was clearly not perfect, so they assigned someone as his handler that looked a good deal like Steve. When he was young he was just as blonde, blue-eyed, and strong-jawed as Steve is, and it could be used as a lever to make Bucky more likely to trust him. It probably kept him a lot calmer than he would have otherwise been as well.

When this movie first came out in theaters, Hail HYDRA was trending everywhere. First job I had in high school, my friends and I worked at a car wash. One car we detailed was a Rolls Royce, and its hood ornament was the HYDRA symbol. We kinda geeked out a little because the movie had just released and we talked about seeing it after work. So we all kinda got in the mood, starting telling each other, "Hail HYDRA." What we did not expect was for the car's owner and side passenger to come up behind us and shout "HAIL HYDRA!" It even spread in school. You return a book to the librarian, "Hail HYDRA." You clap a friend on the back for scoring a point on the field, "Hail HYDRA." You hug your girlfriend or boyfriend in the hallway, "Hail HYDRA." Even passing notes in class; I wrote to someone who wanted to copy my answers, "HAIL HYDRA."

I'm a big fan of the old Captain America from the comics, and this movie does a great job of showcasing why, from his principles to his capabilities. This is also the best movie for Black Widow, which is a bit of a shame in a way. That they never greenlit a solo film for her right after this (and _Lucy_ which showed Scarjo had the star power to put butts in theatre seats) is still one of the biggest missteps of the MCU. I think she should have had her own film between this and Avengers 2 for sure.

First: You are absolutely gorgeous Vee, don't be acting like you're not. Second: The dude that Cap fights on the ship is a comic villain known as Batroc the Leaper, a master of Savate: French kickboxing Third: A "winter soldier" is one who endures hardship and doesn't give up no matter how hard things get. It's a reversal of the "summer soldier" from one of Thomas Paine's writings about how in times of crisis, the summer soldier would run and abandon their duty to the nation/ideals. That describes Cap perfectly. Bucky is called the Winter Soldier mainly because HYDRA would keep him on ice between missions, hence his lack of aging just like Cap.

This is my first time watching you, and I subscribed in the first two minutes. You are an ABSOLUTE HOOT! This is my favorite movie of all time, period. You brought yet another new dimension to my enjoyment of this masterpiece. Thank you for all the belly laughs! Looking forward to the rest of your reactions!

Still my favorite standalone hero movie in the MCU, it’s amazing. Also, this is the first Marvel movie directed by the Russo brothers, it’s the reason they direct the next Cap movie and the following TWO Avengers movies, all of them absolutely top tier.

Great reaction thanks 😸 This is the point where I feel the MCU starts to get more interesting, and the stories have a bit more depth. Unfortunately, some great moments were taken out for time. I hope that future videos will include a little bit more of the film 🤍

I think that this is the best of all of the MCU films. Don't get me wrong, I love several of them. But this one just hits every mark. The elevator fight scene reminded me of my previous favorite fight scene in a movie, the one in the train compartment in the second James Bond film, "From Russia, With Love" (that's also a perfect fight scene in a confined area). BTW, the actress playing the woman that Black Widow disguised herself as is Jenny Agutter. She's 8 years older than me. She was also in An American Werewolf in Paris, Logan's Run, and the cult classic film "Walkabout". I was only 11 when Walkabout came out. She should be about 70 now and she's still acting and she still looks good.

3:40 Actually that's Savate (which I think should have an accent over the second a), a French martial art.
@tarmaque2 жыл бұрын
It is indeed Savate, which does not have any accents. Sometimes "Savate-boxe française" or "la Savate." The word means "old shoe" or "boot." In it as a sport where kick points are only scored by strikes with the foot, not the shins or knees. "Savate-boxe française" literally means "French shoe boxing." It can and often does include strikes with the hand, but is primarily a kickboxing style. When Batroc confronts Steve as "I thought you were more than just a shield" he replies by switching to Savate and kicking Batroc's butt.

Now would be a great time to start Marvels Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. There shouldn't be any big spoilers unless you stop watching the movies and watch multiple seasons right away. I don't know if reactions would get worthwhile view numbers, but you would enjoy the series, and if reacting doesn't work out you could always binge it off camera, although there could be minor spoilers/refences if you watch, say, all of the first two seasons before Age of Ultron... Even then, any spoilers from here on are fairly minor.

If you let the sneeze out like when you’re alone, it will go away. Those cute princess squeaks won’t cut it. The point is to get something out of your nasal passage, u are preventing it.

Winter Soldier is literally one of the top MCU movies for most fans. Glad it kept you guessing and that your guesses were wrong. As they were for us in the theaters. :) The rest of the MCU movies are pretty good stuff from here on out. :)

There are real problems with using the name "Winter Soldier " for this character. The phrase comes from Thomas Paine, who wrote a pamphlet to be read to Washington's troops at Valley Forge:"These are the times that try men's souls. The Summer Soldier, and the Sunshine Patriot, will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country. But he that perseveres it now, deserves the thanks and praise of man and woman. " The title "The Winter Soldier Hearings" was used by the Vietnam Veterans Against the War, who held public hearings in which hundreds of veterans testified to war crimes they saw committed by the US in the War." They held a march un which thousands threw the metals they had been awarded in the War over a fence onto the grounds of the Capitol building. So using it for a programmed assassin is really not app, and is the worst thing in an otherwise really good movie, whose message is arguably, at least in the case of Captain America, closer to both Tom Paine and to the Vietnam Veterans Against the War.
@leroy11542 жыл бұрын
Not really. It's only a problem if you only think of Hydra as the "Haha we're evil because we love being bad!" less then 2D type of villains, but they're not. Sure Hyrda is evil, because they do evil things, but Hydra believe themselves to be the good guys. They think they're saving the world and that they're the ones making the hard choices and sacrifices to do so. Look at a lot of what Pierce says, specifically look at the scene with his house keeper; it's clear he doesn't want to kill her, but he believes that he has to so, so he does it.
@pimtooler63702 жыл бұрын
Sure the character is an assassin, but the name fit with the message of the movie. Though I do think the whole SHIELD is innocent and Hydra secretly infiltrated behind the scenes is a bit of a cop out if we're talking about the US military industrial complex and their war crimes. But hey, its a marvel movie.

19:22 dont worry about Natasha being shot. It never explains it in the movies but shes a super soldier like Steve is. The difference is she had a russian copycat version of the serum and it didnt increase her physical strength as much, but it increased her reflexes and like steve she has an increased healing factor.
