There's an association here that exists for me. It's unusual, kind of hard to describe. I owned the soundtrack for this movie when I was growing up. The best way I can explain it is to say that this song and this scene evoke feelings of safety, security, and stability on the world stage. I'm well aware (now) of the fact that there was a television show with Martin Landau in it many, many years before this movie was released. But for 11 year-old me, Mission: Impossible started here --- these were the characters that introduced me to the fictional world of the IMF. As a boy growing up in Iowa, I was pretty far removed from exotic cities in Europe and pubs filled with pints of ale and good friends. Thankfully, I was graced with parents who had the resources and the willingness to take my sister and me on vacations to far-away places starting at a young age. I was saddened by the recent news that the lead singer of The Cranberries died. On the night that we printed the papers featuring the story, I cut out the article and posted it on my locker door at work. This song and this scene have been on my mind nearly every day since then. Thank you, Dolores, for sharing your gift of song with the world. Your memory will live on through your music for a long, long time.

thx for the comment. strange enough you wouldn't believe it probably, but that's the reason i made this. not only to pay respect to Dolores and Cranberries but i chose this scene because it reminds me of a better time when things were more simple and everything would be alright, things will get better. i guess we lost that sense of innocent a long the way. these days, we tend to be more skeptical, critical towards songs, movies and lost that ability to just let it sink into us and enjoy what feelings it may give us. this scene stays in my mind even after all this time simply because i could hear the song echoing vaguely (i enhanced the sound in this video, it's a lot vague in the original) over the view of this typical european cafe and i was just started working then and thought that one day i'd be in europe to a place like that and sit there and this scene would come to mind. and it's the first thing that came to my mind when i heard about the news as well and i felt like i just gotta make this video and i was still at the office when i made this, just couldnt wait to get home to do it.

Well said, I too feel sad by the death of Dolores and for some reason I think of this scene a lot when I think of the Cranberries, for me it reminds me of being 14 years old in high school and finding out who I was and who I wanted to be when I got older. It reminds me of my first crush in high school and a lot of other fond memories. It's a mixed nostalgia of both nice memories but also sad memories now that she's passed. I also happened to live in Ireland for 7 or so years and so the Cranberries for me remind me of Ireland and what it was like to live there. Good times.

Thank you all for your responses. I feel like I grew a bit as a person after reading them all. Finally watched this movie for the first time at age 33, even though I've seen other MI movies. Your nostalgia and this song meant a lot to me...even though I can't quite explain it. I love you all.

I'm with you on the nostalgia bomb that is this song and this scene. Takes me back to--as everyone has mentioned--a beautiful moment in time.
