Sounds like an early *Rachmaninoff* etude, does it not? Talk about being ahead of her time!!! Way to go, Fannie M.!!!

I love this. Up there with the Fandangos by Soler and the one attributed to Scarlatti (I know it's not a fandango). I would like to learn this for my ARSM as I presume it's beyond grade 8. Bit ambitious, maybe. I'm not used to fast finger-work.

This dance is a tradizional dance of Lazio: Saltarello, non Tarantella.

Τhis is Saltarello not tarantella :)
@renatofabbro52632 жыл бұрын
@@sotiroussis Still, the point remains. This is too fast and thus the notes sound mashed together and in articulate.

Should be a dance, not a study of virtuosity.

Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn like playing fast. But I have checked a couple of traditional Tarantellas on youtube.. The music goes fast part the dancers move more slowly. In any case a composer can take up a form and do as she pleases.In any case these piece requires a quite frenetic speed; it could be taken a fraction more slowly but not much. Blanchine devised a tarantella in which the two dancers move about as quickly as the music. Tremendous!

Yes, Fanny, not her brother. In fact she composed many of his pieces. History has been brutal and has invisualized many great and talented women. Such a patriarcal strategy.
