Had much experience travelling on the NEC between BWI and Wilmington, Delaware whenever I would visit my kids in Delaware after flying into BWI , first from Kansas City and then from Charlotte, North Carolina.....a fun ride!

MARC bought disels to replace their AEM-7s, they don't want to pay amtrak electricity costs. Their HHP-8s are the only electric locomotives that they have left.

nroclAniffirG it makes sense but I don’t like it either. Since MARC runs on tracks that aren’t electrified, it makes more sense to have a standard locomotive fleet that can be used anywhere

@@sccrdude22 MARC's Camden isn't electrified (no caternaries at all); that may have been why the diesel was headed down - to power a Camden run coming back, (Both Penn and Camden lines start at Union Station; the Baltimore end points are different.) I have never (as in ever) taken a Camden line train - because my connections in Baltimore were via Penn Station (either straight MTA or a mix of MTA and light rail depending on the time of day).)

@@Cactus732 Some - not all; and only the HHP-8s are being shelved - MARC is getting a mix of ACS-64s and ALC-45s (both are from the same Siemens plant in California).
