Fans react to Freddie Freeman's World Series walkoff grand slam

@@bophalhok3245If a pitcher throws four balls to a batter, it is called a walk, and the batter takes base. For purposes of saving time, they no longer throw out the four balls in an “intentional walk.” They intentionally walk a batter if they feel more confident about going against the next batter in the lineup.

@@spoders92 @bophalhok3245 Also to add to that you may wonder how the other team KNOWS who’s batting next? Well in baseball before the game starts the umpire turns in the batting order to each of the opposing teams so they have to bat in THAT order, there are some rule exceptions to this but for the purposes of this discussion that is how the Yankees knew Freeman was up next if they simply walked Betts, the calculation was Freeman wouldn’t give them the problems Mookie would and so they gambled and lost.

As a Dodgers fan, I knew Freeman was going to hit a walk off grand slam when the Yankees switched pitchers. The commentator did an amazing job with the famous calls by Vin Scully after Freddie's grand slam. It's amazing that Freeman did it 36 years after Kirk Gibson hit a walk off home run against the Oakland A's in the 1988 World Series. I'm glad they won Game 1 for Fernando.

They were honoring Fernando Valenzuela, he was a Mexican baseball pitcher who played for the Dodgers and won a title with them in 1988, he even has his number retired with the team, he passed away about a week ago, the Mexican flag is there because they’re also honoring his heritage, why does that bother you?
