Somehow this show/Tilda Swinton made me care for a CGI octopus and think her murder is up there with Annie being SA-ed as one of the most heinous things Deep has done. As for the Deep, I’m predicting that he’s going to be the only member of the Seven to survive the series being none the worse for wear and having learned absolutely nothing

Gosh that shapeshifting is so gruesome, much less effective than doppelgänger of S1 and S2 though that memory absorption is broken. Also a fun fact MM’s wife was the wife of the ghoul in Fallout

Doppelganger could change much faster, but seemed like he was very time-limited (e.g. the scene where he accidentally changes back while caressing Homelander), as staying changed was apparently exhausting. This shapeshifter can last probably around 12 hours before needing to re-up, but can potentially stay changed forever if a source is available. This shapeshifter definitely has the penalties of time taken changing and also a lack of subtlety when changing, plus needing to touch the source. While I don't have any evidence to back it up, I would imagine that Doppelganger could take the form of both anybody and also potentially somebody that doesn't exist, while this shapeshifter can only take the form of somebody who exists. And then there's the memory gain aspect. All in all, I think Doppelganger's powers would be more useful for a regular person, but this shapeshifter's powers are potentially far stronger for anybody in criminal or espionage roles.
