My daughter was put on high doses of steroids for months at 6 and it was bad. The weight gain was immense but mainly the swelling in her entire body. Everyone would stare and whisper as we went places and if I’d hear then clear enough I’d say I’m sorry but she is very sick and has a medical condition so stop judging before you know what the person is going through. She looked like someone took her body and just blew it up like a cartoon. Luckily she made it through it and now even with the stretch marks and extra weight she still carries she is confident and healthy. Steroids are crazy and wreak havoc on a persons body so sad.

I think most of us are used to her hyperactive personality from way back when she first started, and she was much younger. Instead of jumping to conclusions, let's remember that we all slow down as we mature. Perhaps, she's comfortable with herself not to worry as much about appearances anymore (hair, weight, etc). Thanks for sharing this as a topic of discussion. Nonetheless, I hope she is well, nice lady who has given much joy to her audiences for quite some time.

I havent seen her in awhile, she appears either very swollen in the face or gained weight. Her hands seem kind of red, wonder if she was taking prednisone either for an allergy or maybe for pain. Prednisone is a steroid used to treat inflammation and therefore for some conditions that may cause pain, but is not used simply as a pain reliever.

She does have hypothyroidism! What you’re seeing here happened to me in 2004. I was unrecognizable. I was put on synthroid and only got worse! I’m on a different treatment now for the past 15 years and you’d never know I had it unless I told you. Whatever treatment she is getting is obviously not helping.

Oh bless her heart, that just breaks my heart to hear! Bell's palsy is no joke, I know firsthand how tough it can be. I remember when I had it, it was one of the most difficult times in my life. That numbness, the drooping...it really messes with your self-esteem. And I still have a bit of that Forest Whitaker eye going on, it's tough. It makes me so sad to think that Rachael might be going through the same thing. No wonder she's been so quiet about it all. It must be so hard to be in the public eye and have people scrutinizing your every move, especially when you're dealing with something so personal and potentially embarrassing. And you're right, people can be so cruel! Instead of offering support and understanding, they're quick to judge and criticize. It's just not right. Rachael Ray has brought so much joy and deliciousness into our lives, the least we can do is show her some compassion and give her the space she needs to heal.
