These are two grown adults that refuse to take responsibility. These people are hopeless.

Thank you for doing such an honest and level-headed breakdown of this Kitchen Nightmares classic. I appreciate that you dove a bit into Amy's back story which provides some framework of how trauma and such may have played a part in the person she became. However, trauma does not excuse someone for their actions. Even if someone has gone through terrible things and made abysmal choices, they still need to accept that they made those choices and act to make positive changes to fix them. Unfortunately, there were so many opportunities for growth and success, and they were never capitalized upon.

I’ve heard some people defend Sammy taking the tips because the servers are paid hourly. Even if the hourly wage was good, the customers still leave tips under the assumption that their server will get it. Even in instances where customers know servers make hourly, sometimes they’ll still tip because it goes to the server. Separate tips? Pooled tip? It still goes. To. The. Server. With my understanding, Sammy taking the tips could still be considered stealing/taken under false pretenses. Maybe there’s a more specific legal term for it. Anyone more knowledgeable than me, could this be wage theft?

Amy's tragic backstory should have made her a deeply empathetic person who understands everyone is struggling; instead she shut down and decided not to live in reality anymore. Also do we know how much of this is accurate and how much is just what Amy said has happened? Because The divorced husband and estranged sister could just be because of the way we see her act in the show and with the food critics. Also taking the tips from your service staff is not just a dick move; but illegal in many places; and it is so funny how they keep denying it even after we know based on the contracts they made that they clearly take tips; and the investigation said "Well that's not really illegal in Arizona. Lol of course the crazy ultra Karen and her violent husband ended up in Israel 😆 Good lord that woman has had a lot of plastic surgery by the end of this video. Pita Jungle and Gordon Ramsay stay winning, in face Gordon just brought back Kitchen Nightmares.

But it’s not how the system is built & you can’t just add rules on your own. The deck is stacked against the business in reviews, but economically in general, the deck is stacked against the customer, so I think it’s not a major concern. There are too many restaurants in most markets, & it isn’t a good industry to play “this is my dream - enjoy!” - most restaurants seem to fail because the owners do not understand/accept very simple financial truths. I have very little sympathy, outside of the people who run eateries in tiiiiiny, economically depressed towns that only have one restaurant. Those are the ones that need help but they don’t apply because no amount of Gordon Ramsey will bring more people to the middle of the dirt prairie…

Damn... Amy has been through a lot. She lost her parents, she was diagnosed with cancer, couldn't get children and was cheated on which resulted in a child - something she could not have. Obviously not an excuse, but it is understandable how hard she's had it in life. Man... I feel sad for her. Despite everything, we are all human.
