Don't think it's gone unnoticed how you colour match your 2-colour backgrounds to the figure being reviewed. Love it.

Agree with you around not needing to upgrade to every new figure. I think FT Jazz, Trailbreaker and Mirage are all the current no.1 representations, but not a huge improvement on what’s come before. Great to have options next time I have a few quid spare to treat myself with! :) Thanks for the vid, nice job

Like you said, it’s getting to the stage, where you don’t “need” to upgrade on certain characters. Love this FansToys, but Downbeat really does hold up well. Do wish that characters that are missing (season 3/4 cast hello there) would get some release across 3rd party. In FT defence, they are releasing Headmasters.

Maketoys downbeat was a great bot for its time and it still is, now it's not Fanstoys but it's no slouch I've been reading all the comments on Facebook on how he's such a bad figure and how he's not cartoon accurate enough and it's like bro it's a 7 maybe even 8yr old mold and it's held up for the most part.I bought the premium version a couple yrs ago when it was released and I loved him but I really think Fanstoys nailed this Jazz I sold my downbeat 5 months ago and im just w8n on that shipping notification from Toydojo...thanx for the review 👍

I have Downbeat premium, and Jive paid off waiting to ship, but personally I think I prefer downbeat still.

Saying which version is better is so subjective based on taste and what you as an individual are looking for and find aesthetically pleasing. If it’s more about engineering, articulation and material then you can be more objective and critical, I don’t have an MP Jazz but have Jive on preorder. For me looking at these two aesthetically I I like the clean look of JIVE however the MT has some great looking toy features in the stickers etc however my personal preference is the clean look, with diecast giving it heft. Looking forward to getting him in hand, Iv ordered through Terry and he has already said that his stock won’t be available until January which is fine considering it’s Christmas next week lol

I have Downbeat and I want the Jive figure too. I like both. However, I am a pose junkie and I want the pose ability of Takara Sunstreaker. Butterfly joints are highly favored in my world…come on Takara Jazz

Not had long to mess around with mine, but a definite improvement from Phantasm. Those arm rachets are way too tight though! Should definitely have been softer. Probably half a head taller than I'd have liked, but negligible. Thanks for the comparison.

I hear Sean M has switched out the ratchet springs and that this fixes the shoulder rotation… I may look into this

Both have their pros and cons...Its up to what the Collector is looking for in their MP Jazz. Having both in hand honestly, I like MTs for its squaty look and more jazzy(big) feet. I also like the more detailed look of MTs and the Altmode is Superior. The FTs hardware and fit N finish is hard to beat and the head sculpt is spot on. Not a fan of the super clean look and model plastics looking altmode of the FTs. Both are Great...Tomayto/Tomahto.

My Downbeat's rear bumper wouldn't fold away, totally ruined alt mode IMO

Never liked the proportions on DB, especially the big hands and tiny head. The FT version is magic in the way the car fender behind the feet look shrunk, like the toon

I ordered fans toys version and I would not mind having make toys but at the time people wanted over $200 for make toys version and I wasn’t even going to pay that much money when I could get the fans toys version for $159

Can't wait for Jive! Never saw the attraction to downbeat. Probably not bad as a figure but SEVERELY overrated! When I look at maketoys, I see something in the $60-$70 quality range, not $150-$200, what a joke! Fans Toys Jive is everything that every other Jazz figure is not, which is amazing!
@walkers1982 жыл бұрын
I had them all via 3rd party. Trust me, Downbeat was the reigning king and deservingly so until now.
@passionnotparked90992 жыл бұрын
For someone who did not have Downbeat and saying it is Severly Overrated is just ignorant. Downbeat was and still is The MP Jazz. It was just about perfect...paint, deco, engineering, materials, and it was only $120. We shouldn't bash things which we don't own.
@stevecriscione15672 жыл бұрын
@@passionnotparked9099 not ignorant at all! I didn't need to own it because I had the relief of seeing and handling that figure in person, what a let down! For me a figure needs more than just the look to be good and even there, downbeat suffers. Most maketoys products that I've had or handled have this thin (model kit like plastic feel) fiddly parts and design that simply just does not command the prices they are asking. I know downbeat started at just under 100, but that's too much! Also, with how much that figure was talked up made it a real let down when I saw it for the first time, the cheap look, no paint just apps, swirly plastic looked horrible and made my opinion worse because that's when pricing went to 150 up to 200, a joke! So I stand by my opinion of it may be just an ok figure but nowhere worth the price and definitely not up to the hype! The fandom is weird, I find it funny that people talk themselves into thinking it's ok for one low quality figure to be great when others come out priced with in their range and get bashed because no paint, the plastic feel, no heft and it could be one that looks spot on to the character model. Don't even get me started with maketoys seekers, that mold sucks!
