I have the MakeToys (non-premium) offering and that’s my MP Jazz. I feel the FT is too long in the midsection and the car mode seems a bit off to me. I can’t justify having two so I’ll stick with my MakeToys Jazz :)

I always found the proportions to be off on the MakeToys. I could never put my finger on exactly why, but I can completely see it in this comparison. I may be getting two, one for each mode. Yo recién he comprado el de MakeToys porque desconocía la existencia del de FT. Tras ver la comparativa no me sale rentable revender el de MT, el precio bajará seguramente y no podré comprar el de FT, el cuál seguro que sale mas caro. Couldn’t agree more both are great figures that were very well done. The main issue I had with the MT is the head is so small and the hands are too big. If you look the head is almost the exact same size as the hands. I also hated the outward ratchets on the legs. I could never get it in the pose I really wanted. But I won’t deny it was a great figure and has held up all these years. But for me the FT will forever be on my shelf and the MT is now in alt mode forever. Love your verses videos always very well done and fair!

Finally got my Fans Toys Jive in today and he looks even better in person. I transformed my Transform and Rollout Meister immediately to alt mode and that's the way it's going to stay. Man, I thought Meister looked good until Jive came in and then it looked really bad. However, the alt mode is amazing as it's basically the toy version with all the decals already painted on. Transformation for Jive is a pain though and not very intuitive at all. Now that I'm collecting more and more 3rd party Transformers, I keep watching your comparisons of the ones I've pre-ordered and watch it again when it comes in just to see if my pick changes. Jive and Parkour will definitely not change as they're the best versions out and I don't think there's anything Takara Tomy can do that'll change that. Takara Tomy is losing a lot of customers by not releasing figures fast enough or releasing figures very few people want as they're just repaints of an older figure.

Thanks for the comparison, nice video at that. Its nice to see how Downbeat is still holding up. However, Jive looks so good that I couldn't pass the oportunity to preorder.

One thing to be taken of this, is that the Jazz Figure overall is a hard one to engineer. Which Is why we didn't see anything too significantly better than the MakeToys version, particularly the backpack portion still being a bit messy. I'd love to see Fan Toys take a stab at Tracks. No one has really nailed that one yet.

Really great video!! It's a close tie, and both of "Jazz" are good. My choice is for the FT Jives because when MT was released I didn't have the money to go for it, but now I could bought Jives and FT never disappointed.

No tie on vehicle mode, vehicle mode goes to MT. If FT kept it a little more realistic in alt mode then it’d be unanimous. I hate the rims on Jives alt mode, that back tire is too thin as well.

They both look great. I remember when we were waiting so pessimistically for an MP Jazz. Now we have 3 to choose from (ToyWorld/Zeta). I think the FansToys version takes it up a notch but I am still happy to own both these beauties. I like the MakeToys car mode, I think it is more pleasing, although the FT is more toon-accurate. I lmost like the improvement of the FT Jive Headsculpt. They nailed it!

I don't have the MT Jazz & I have the FT on the way...I think the FT looks like Jazz & will be my display representation...I like the vs vids & watching MP vids overall because u guys help me decide on figures by giving in hand looks...I do feel like giving a point for weapon storage & omitting 1 we're there are more ratchets is jus a bit unfair but I get subjectivity...again Jive will be my Jazz hands down

This is about how I imagined the comparison turned out. I got DB premium on the original PO and seeing it by Jive it's still really great looking. Like you I will probably convert it to vehicle mode and have Jive as the bot. I generally don't like to get duplicates but when there are two great options I'll bite. The height and small face of DB is enough for me to get Jive, if DB was a bit taller and had a bigger head sculpt I would probably be satisfied with DB alone. Thanks for the vid!

I’m not a “toon” guy, I prefer the classic Masterpiece or toy decos. I bought these both when they dropped with the toy deco versions. I like MakeToys robot mode a little better. The door wings look better and the midsection is too plain on the FansToys. I did keep both because FansToys car mode is awesome. I like the Martini logos on the FansToys; MakeToys came with the Agent Meister paint by default which I am not a fan of. Jazz was my favorite toy as a kid and I still have the one from my childhood. My preference: these both look way too plain without the toy deco. If I could only keep one I’d go FansToys but I do like both and will keep them displayed next to each other.

If I didn't already own the Maketoys premium Downbeat I would probably buy Fans Toys, but I don't see that much of an improvement to sell what I have.

Then make sure you get the premium version. I've got the 2nd batch and the gray parts on it looks cheap, so that's something that needs improving. And lack of ratchets making it impossible for it to stand normally, something that is fixed on the premium version. But despite its flaws it's a fantastic figure I will never replace because of how fun it is to transform and pose BECAUSE of its lack or ratchets, giving it a kinda flair suitable to Jazz.

the make toys is great and the look is good the build is ok and i think it looks better than the FTs but at the end of the day the FTs is built better painted better and thats what i look for in a toy i now have to jazz and thats not a bad thing

The roof/back on FT looks really horrible that is sticks out like a sore thumb, and are huge deal breaker, but even thought he MT legs are big they don't look horrible and are forgivable.

I think the scoring system should have a score: like for accessories MT gets total credit for winning but I feel like the score should be based on how nice they are and rated. For example: FT may have scored 8/10 and MT may have scored 9/10. Just an idea, it may make the match more fair.
