These breeding boxes have worked awesome for me, I get them at walmart for about $10, I am finding I don't need a nest bowl with them, super easy to clean. They have a little lip so the chicks don't fall out. Still tall enough where my Indian fantails were still able to breed in them.

so they are in walmart but not with the rest of the totes, they are with the kids area. they are great I use them for chickens, quail and pigeons. When they get dirty just rinse them with a little bleach and they are as good as new. beat out wooden boxes anytime

@@fazsyard I’m definitely going to get some. I recently adopted one male fantail pigeon and named him December. The man I got him from thought he had a breeding pair but they were 2 males and would t stop fighting. I got a dog crate let him fly around inside. He has different perches he likes to hang out at. After a few days of hand feeding he has become so sweet and tame. Even this morning I woke up with him perched on me sleeping. LOL! I got a female, her name is January he is slowly taking to her but mainly is obsessed with me. I give him pets and cuddles and kisses on the head and he loves it. They are both so beautiful. This week I am getting a outdoor loft for them. I want to get a smaller smaller loft for these fantails and I’d like to get some frillbacks as well and then I’d like to get a larger loft/coop with some white racers and start training them to the loft. I found someone who used to do funeral doves and is older now and wants to get out of the business so I am going to try and get birds from him once I get the large coop. I know it’s weird they are in my house now but they are becoming so tame and it’s been horrible weather anyways. I have a larger crate they use as a perch when it’s sunny I let them outside to catch some rays 🌞 anyways I’m super new to this but it’s been such an adventure. Also I got in touch with the guy I got December from and I’m going to get him a female, the guy I got January from had two females that were januarys babies. He wanted a breeding pair so now everyone is happy. It’s cool his bird looks exactly like December and januarys babies look exactly like her. I’m curious to see how their babies turn out. (Sorry this comment was so long) but I’m definitely getting some of these boxes when I get my coop set up they are going in. Seems so simple going w plastic. The smaller size keeps them warmer too.

Also the idea for a fancy pigeon garden is so lovely, I think that’s that’s what the fantail pigeons were originally used for, they are like small peacocks that walk around. So cool! I feel like they are under rated and under utilized in general. It’s very niche and it seems like only people who are into pigeons in general have any, and I think especially the fantails and other fancy types are missing a big market, everyday people. People who have young kids and love animals but don’t want the commitment of a dog. I think more gardeners and homesteaders would grow to appreciate and love them if they were exposed to it. From what I’ve seen so far the people who have pigeons had done it their whole life and so did their parents or grandparents, it doesn’t seem like a thing that people get into very often, or out of the blue, it’s like they were already initiated. Lol. Anyways I had an idea of doing a farmers market stand and selling some produce and preserves and if I started breeding fancy pigeons I could have some in cages for people to look at and buy, I want to start building lofts from repurposed furniture like desks and buffets and old dressers people are getting rid of I think if I make them colorful and unique it could invite people into my shop and I feel like some people would want to get some and try it out in their yard. Right now it is just an idea but I think if I train one bird to be very friendly and be on a harness as well it would make people very interested to come up and see. If he was say on my shoulder or on a perch. It was a far out idea and I’m a ways away from anything like that but I think it would be super cool to try.
