Similar to the sentiments of others, I find Peggy's previous code of calling out the alt-right in his songs to be pedantic in hindsight. It isn't just that he decided to work with Kanye on his album (which is filled with racist, antisemitic garbage), but he doubled down and aggressively pushed back against people for criticizing because "OOO HE"S LITERALLY MY IDOL". Peggy refused to address the real criticisms of his decision and engaged in some ridiculous ad hominem bullshit, rather than having a constructive discussion with anyone on why they may have felt a sense of betrayal. I am not personally offended by Peggy's choice-I don't hold celebrities in high regard, and that goes especially for rappers (even less mainstream ones like Peggy). Honestly Peggy has stated his entire career multiple times if he could work with any artist dead or alive it'd be Kanye, That he doesn't give a F about the stupid shit Ye be on, Even after the Hitler stuff, He made it clear that he'd still work with Ye, Because as a producer Ye is the bar to him, And its his life dream to be able to collaborate with Kanye, Who is his biggest inspiration musically. Dude clearly doesn't mess with all that Nazi shit, And has been quite vocal against it, But as a musician he clearly respects Ye and holds him in high regards, As do alot of artists. JPEG still entitled to his own beliefs, Working with Ye doesn't mean he abandoned those beliefs, He just wants to make music with an incredible musician, I don't see any issue with what Peggy doing, Nor artists like Travis Scott, Tyler The Creator or Freddie Gibbs, Kanye is a shitty person no doubt, But his approach to music has made such an impact on so many of these artists lives, They still have tremendous respect for the musician in him, And from an artistic standpoint it's still an honor to work with him. People gotta stop shaming these guys for that IMO
